Main Silmarillion OC:

Elerrómë, meaning "East Star." She/her; deep blue-grey eyes and white hair that shines with a pinkish light, like a calm sea at dawn. The only child of one of Olwe's youngest sons, and therefore Earwen's niece. She was an only child, so she more or less became part of Arafinwe and Earwen's family, and was like a younger sibling to their children, becoming closer to them than she was her own parents. By association, she also grew up knowing the rest of Finwe's grandchildren, though she was younger than all of them.

Other Silm OCs:

Lintasúrë, "Swift Wind." She is a messenger and letter carrier to the nobility and royalty of the Noldor. Independent, loyal, friendly, and impulsive. With her traveling lifestyle and her family all left behind in Eldamar, she has few close connections in Beleriand, so she tends to treat anyone she's familiar with as though they're a good friend. Lintasure has a playful streak and she enjoys teasing and banter, and can sometimes speak and act without thinking when something strikes her fancy. Regardless of her impulsive whims, she always fulfills her duty properly, even if she doesn't always take the same actions others would to get there.

"Cugu", "Dove." She/her, cream blonde hair and brown eyes. Taken captive to Angband as a youth and kept for her skill with animals. Brought to Tol-in-Gaurhoth with Sauron to help look after his wolves there, then brought to Nargothrond with the other captives after they were freed. Ultimately followed Celebrimbor all the way to Eregion. She unsurprisingly fell completely under Annatar's spell when he arrived, though she didn't recognize him as her former Master.

Aralótë, "Noble Flower." She/her; brown hair and grey-green eyes. Feanor and Nerdanel's daughter, born between Caranthir and Curufin.

LotR OCs:

Calendula Brandybuck. She/her; strawberry blonde hair and green eyes, and plenty of freckles. A kindly, cheerful, impulsive little soul who came of age towards the end of the Third Age.

Every time I've been like "I'll finally have time to fix my blog up and rp seriously!" The universe has hit me with Some Additional Catastrophe ... I've had no time or strength in the last few months for any kind of hobbies, but the next few months are looking more promising. I'm still hesitant to start anything yet lest something else unexpected come up and derail me again, but maybe I'll try to get back to fixing things up around here ...

Elerrome sighed, eyes downcast as she listened. "I know you speak truth, and wisdom besides. And yet, how is one to judge the difference when each person surely believes that they are the one who is correct in following their convictions? It is hard enough, even without..." Without the uncertainty, the confusion, the fear.

"All I know to do is to follow those I trust. Fortunate, perhaps, that most of them are far more persistent--or stubborn--than I."

Amarië only answered in a hum, staring up at the stars. It was the only light they had now - and Amarië mourned for the trees. Most especially when the time came for the mingling of the Lights, and nothing but darkness came.

“We can always count on stubbornness from the House of Finwe,” Amarië agreed. “Perhaps the difference is only if one can change their mind when presented with new facts. With reason.”

Elerrome's agreement came in the form of a mirthless chuckle. "Yes. I sometimes wish I had as much confidence in anything as they seem to have in everything."

Glancing over at her companion, Elerrome followed the grief in her gaze to the sky. The sight of the stars was a small comfort after the all-consuming darkness that surrounded Melkor's attack; and while the loss of the Trees was indescribable, Elerrome had at least spent most of her life living beneath Varda's sky. She could barely imagine how it must feel to one who had lived so close to the Trees' radiance.

"I know that Uncle Arafinwe has tried so many times to speak reason to his family, with seemingly little success. But now..." The memory of that horrible day was still ever-present, and the image filled her mind again of the moment Finwe's death was revealed -- of the faces of his children and grandchildren. A shudder ran through Elerrome and she wrapped her arms around herself.

"Did you see their faces, Amarië? When the news of King Finwe was told? I cannot get it out of my mind ... I think reason will have no sway at all now."

"Elerrome," Attëamíriel greeted the younger woman with a smile, and she dipped her head in a bow before offering her hand to the teleri princess. "You look well today, may I have this dance?"

She wore a copper circlet, and an elegant red tunic with long, sweeping sleeves and lovely, form fitting trousers tucked into polished boots. She was ready for the annual ball held in Tirion for the royal families of all the different groups of elves to celebrate the year's harvest, and she already had her dance partner in mind.

"It has been a long time since we met face-to-face, I'm glad I was able to find you."

It was easy to fall into step with Attëa, the elder's combination of steadiness and gentleness making Elerrome feel at ease following her movements. She loved dancing at events like these, but all the movement and commotion could get exhausting. Dancing with loved ones who understood her always seemed a bit easier though, and at this moment El felt like she could keep dancing forever.

Her cheeks pinkened softly at the compliment and she shook her head bashfully, but couldn't suppress a delighted smile. "I am not sure your humble opinion is quite accurate in this regard, but I appreciate it nonetheless." In Elerrome's eyes there were many who looked more striking than she tonight, but few whose opinions she cared about as much as Maitima's, so the compliment meant a great deal to her regardless.

A soft gasp of excitement escaped her as she twirled. "Truly? It would be so wonderful to have you visit again, Mai! There is much that I would love to show you!"

The various balls and festivals that filled out the long year in Eldamar were some of the things Elerrome looked most forward to, and the harvest festival was no exception. Some of her fondest memories took place on the festival visits she'd made with Aunt Earwen's family, enjoying the myriad beauties of Aman and the time spent among loved ones she never saw enough. And while seeing her relatives was always a highlight, there were others -- or rather, one other in particular -- that she always hoped to catch a glimpse of.

"Mai!" Elerrome greeted with a glowing smile as she approached, radiating delight to see her as though El had not had an eye on her since the moment the Feanorians arrived at the ball. Watching Attëamiriel from afar, or admiring her really, was something Elerrome had done at events like this for so long she sometimes failed to notice it herself (until Findarato took the opportunity to tease her about it). But the elder woman caught her attention more than ever today, regal and beautiful as she was in her formal attire. It was something El had always admired about her, the way she followed her own style while still maintaining the responsibilities of her position.

"I would be honored," she replied warmly, setting her hand gently in the offered one. They seemed to fit very nicely together like this, El secretly reflected to herself as they fell into rhythm. They certainly made a fine sight side by side, the Teleri princess' flowing pale blue gown contrasting pleasantly against the red tunic.

"It has been! Too long, as always. I enjoy your letters when you have the time to send them, of course, but they cannot compare to speaking together in person! And to seeing one another," she continued, running her eyes briefly across Attëa's finely crafted attire. "You look very well; this style suits you perfectly."

Nívëien could sense her baby cousin watching her, or more specifically, her hair. She smiled as she sipped her tea, black with a teaspoon of honey, perfect.

"Can I help you Elerrome?" She asked, turning to face her little cousin from her place in the gardens of Alqualonde palace. She sat under a verenza which kept her shielded from the bright light of the trees, she scooted along the whicker sofa to make room for her little cousin.

A cushion had been placed at her back to soothe some of the ache as she sat.

Elerrome's awkward unease melted quickly to unconcealed delight as she listened to her cousin describe the gardens, unimaginably far away to the girl who had yet to travel further inland than Tirion. Fragrant flowers and herbs were some of her favorite things and her smile was bright and eager.

"It must smell so divine there! Bouquets with roses or lavender are already wonderful even when they're cut, I can only imagine what being near the full bushes is like!" Nívëien's smile, along with the feeling of finally connecting with her aloof cousin, made Elerrome feel warm.

A soft giggle escaped her. "Fresh lavender tea sounds so kingly, doesn't it? I bet it tastes wonderful! I've always imagined King Ingwe must be very regal, he must have very fancy teacups. I saw him once when he came to visit our King Grandfather, but only for a moment." She leaned in slightly, almost conspiratorial as she continued. "He was very shiny."

"It does," Nívëien confirmed, feeling the tension in her body easing away at the genuine eagerness and curiosity in her baby cousin. "I hope I can show them to you some day."

Nívëien giggled as she leaned in to listen to Elerrome's description of King Ingwe. He truly was very shiny, often dressed in bright colours and with so much gold jewelry that it was a wonder he could move under the weight of it all, he was often the shiniest person in the room. "Aye, the magpies adore him."

"Grandmother Laurenis, my father's mother, had recently dried some lavender that can be made into tea. She gave me a bag before I returned to Alqualonde," the older elf mused aloud whilst she opened the lid of the tea pot. Only a little tea remained at the bottom, not enough for even half a cup. "We can have it brewed into our next pot of tea, once we finish our drinks."

She made the offer so her little cousin could get to experience a bit of vanyar life, which wasn't so easy to do in Alqualonde. She sipped at her cup and smiled warmly at Elerrome.

"Really?!" Elerrome's eyes lit up as she glanced quickly over at Nívëien. The idea that Nívëien would want to go somewhere with her was a pleasant surprise to the girl, and actually visiting the gardens herself sounded like a dream. "I would like that very much," she responded, slight shyness creeping back in.

Her nose crinkled in amusement as her assessment of the High King was corroborated. Their own King Grandfather was certainly extravagant by the standards of the Falmari, but compared to King Ingwe, the flowing clothes and jewelry of Alqualonde looked almost simple. Elerrome wondered what sort of beautiful things she would get to see the Vanyar wearing if she ever did get to visit with Nívëien.

"Ooh!" Elerrome clapped her little hands together in excitement as her cousin assessed the pot. She would get to try the lavender tea herself, and right here today? This was the best garden walk she'd ever taken! Remembering her manners, she continued, "it would be very kind of you to share that, but I would really love to try it!" She quickly drank the rest of her tea to make room for the next batch, kicking her feet a bit off the edge of the seat.

Nívëien could sense her baby cousin watching her, or more specifically, her hair. She smiled as she sipped her tea, black with a teaspoon of honey, perfect.

"Can I help you Elerrome?" She asked, turning to face her little cousin from her place in the gardens of Alqualonde palace. She sat under a verenza which kept her shielded from the bright light of the trees, she scooted along the whicker sofa to make room for her little cousin.

Elerrome had not intended to spy on her cousin. Her morning had been spent in weaving lessons with her mother, and while she understood the importance of the craft, Elerrome would much rather be learning how to sail the ships than make their parts. The palace gardens were always a good spot to get away for some fresh air, so she had snuck away as soon as the instruction was over; no one would be looking for her any time soon now that her lesson for the day was completed anyways.

She was just coming up with a new path to walk through the central garden when she spotted a gleam of gold beneath a veranda. The bright hair of her Vanya-related cousins had always captivated the young girl's fancy, and Nívëien's gentle curls were especially lovely. When she was still an elfling Elerrome had been allowed a few times to play with her most mysterious cousin's hair, plaiting it into lopsided braids and weaving flowers between the strands. She was old enough now, however, to understand the principles of decorum, and to feel shy about such childish desires, but not old enough to have lost them. So here she stood, hiding behind a white carven pillar, hesitant to approach Nívëien as she often was.

Something was unusual about this particular relative, but the time had not yet come when Elerrome would understand all too well what it was. For now Nívëien was simply one of her golden cousins who was often away from home, someone who the family spoke about and acted around differently. It made Elerrome uneasy sometimes, so she tried not to act strange around Nívëien, but didn't always succeed.

When her presence was discovered she shrank behind the pillar for a moment, then bashfully made her way over to the sofa. "Ah, hello, Nívëien! I didn't mean to disturb you..." Hopping up onto the seat, she looked up at her elder cousin through a sidelong glance. "I just finished my lessons and decided to take a walk. What are you doing here?"

A little amused by her cousin's reaction to being noticed, Nívëien snorted quietly in amusement. The book she had been reading was forgotten in her lap, and she leaned back into her cushion as she considered her baby cousin.

"I came here to enjoy the gardens," she admitted. She didn't mention that the main reason she wasn't in her mother's apartments was because her lover was visiting and the man rarely kept a good mood when seeing her. "The weather is too lovely to stay indoors for long."

It was her allocated time to spend with her mother's side of the family, although she tended to avoid her mother and sister, finding their company trying.

"Would you like some tea, Elerrome?" Nívëien asked, prepared to use the spare cup for her baby cousin. "If black tea isn't to your liking there's a jug of milk and some honey to sweeten it."

Elerrome nodded her agreement to Nívëien's assessment of the weather. The girl could feel an air of sadness around her cousin as she spoke, one that hinted at a reason beyond simply enjoying the gardens, but she refrained from commenting. Nívëien often seemed to have a sadness about her, though nobody but Elerrome seemed to notice it. Or perhaps everyone simply ignored it, as El currently did, though her motivation was out of awkward politeness and not the disinterest or disdain she did not yet understand.

"I also came to enjoy the gardens! They always cheer me up when I'm feeling tired."

Elerrome accepted the tea eagerly, keeping her grasp on the delicate cup as careful as she could. "I like it just as it is, but thank you!" It gave her a small sense of connection to her unfamiliar cousin to be sharing the same sort of tea, and secretly she felt as though she was rather grown up for drinking it without any cream or sweetener.

"Are there nice gardens where your other family lives? There must be, right?"

"Good morning, Elerrome," Atteamiriel greeted the younger woman, smiling warmly at her. Her copper red hair had been only partly tied back, in an attempt to catch the younger woman's attention. Her unusual hair colour was always praised so she fully intended to use it to keep Elerrome's eyes on her.

"Would you join me for a walk along the beach?" She asked, her voice as smooth as silk as she offered her arm to the petite teleri princess.

Of all the things Elerrome had expected that morning, a messenger telling her Princess Attëamiriel sought her presence was not one of them. It was far better than the rest of them though, and she made her way out of her chambers as quickly as she could (after a bit of light primping and the addition of a few strings of pearls).

"Mai!" Her eyes sparkled as she saw her dear friend. The excited greeting was the same as it had been for decades. It seemed as though every time Elerrome ran into Attëa she was an elfling again for a moment, eager for the elder's attention and stories about her travels.

Elerrome looped her arm into the other's happily, smiling up at her and trying not to let her gaze linger too long on the red hair tumbling around the Noldoran princess' shoulders. She had always admired it, enamored by the richness and lustrous color, but now that she was grown it would be rather rude to stare too much.

"This is a delightful surprise. I should like nothing more than to join you, as I'm sure you are aware," she continued with a playful glint in her eye. "What brings you out this time?"
