feel kind of hopeless, ngl
ok, maybe it's just me but what's with people being unable to write/draw/film two men in a relationship where they're both masculine. why does one of them always have to look like he just came out of yaoi mangas
for an atheist, i sure spend an awful amount of time begging god to please let me be straight uh
the thing is, unless you make yourself useful in some way, people will write you off as worthless because somehow we’ve decided that as humans we either produce or consume, and consumers who don’t pay capitalism back are a burden and a peril for this society
why are all sad american rock ballads like-
*melancholic moaning* californiaaaaa *guitar riff* broke my heart *drums picking up in the distance* sCREAMING
hey everyone! Earlier today I shared an excerpt from my WIP titled Seabound. Now I am sharing the full scope of what I’ve written so far.
Enjoy listening!
this is controversial. i don't mind wearing masks and i hope we'll keep wearing them after lockdown is over.
call me nostalgic, but i genuinely feel happy when i see all these new YA books with their wordplay titles and colourful covers. i feel happy when i see YA books with a fat protagonist, or a queer protagonist or a non-white protagonist, and yes, YA literature has been considered a joke, and yes, perhaps it doesn’t have the deepest or most obscure meanings, but it brings joy to so many people, so let them be
i’m sorry but i want to add something:
less than ten years ago i was barely a teen and the only literature available to me with characters i could actually relate to was badly written fan-fiction (and i say “badly written” because it was made by fellow 12-year-olds who obviously have less experience than adult authors).
so please, if you’re one of those “woke”, academic people who constantly belittle YA readers and writers because their books aren’t “serious enough” or whatever, do yourself a favour and think: did you personally have access, as a pre-teen or teen, to any form of literature that portrayed characters that looked like you, or had the same struggles as you?
if so, congrats. that’s wonderful, and i’m happy you had that - now let other people enjoy it as well. if you didn’t, and you still think that YA is a joke, shut up and let people enjoy their thing, however cliché or superficial or whatnot. jesus.
y’all know you don’t get Cool Points for acting all holier-than-thou and putting down teenagers right?

girl help i accidentally fell in love with the picrew character i designed
hi! daily reminder that if you are a parent, belittling and insulting your child’s style and appearance is actually Not Very Good! and after some years of this, the child (me, i’m the child) is usually left feeling like they want to throw up and curl into a ball to hide away from you! and most times i’ll get back in my sweats or whatever and try to remember not to ever share what i like with you because you’ll simply make fun of the one thing that makes me feel good!
i hope i’m not only a mutual to you, but a beloved foe as well
interesting how so much ideology and discourse can be written about the idea of “fake gay people who want to take over our sacred gay communities” without anybody at any point providing any form of convincing proof that this is a type of person that actually exists at all, let alone in large enough amounts to be relevant to absolutely anybody. all that brainpower could’ve been spent writing evolutionary biology speculation about bigfoot and accomplished like, basically the same levels of actually describing reality.
or when people talk about ‘stealing LGBT resources’ but always talk about ‘resources’ as this abstract, ephemeral thing and never give any example of actual ‘resources’ that are being ‘stolen’. almost like it never pertains to an actual real issue
It’s almost like “predators who lie about who they are to invade spaces and promote a hidden agenda that’s far more sinister than the ‘acceptance’ they claim to want” is an old homophobic, biphobic and transphobic thing being projected onto new targets.
now this could just be me but i’m going to take a bit of a leap and say it: this same mentality of exclusionism, the tendency to look for a scapegoat, the tactic of teaming up against someone else because ‘we’re the only ones who can Make Things Right’ is- pretty fucking transparent, and mostly used by far-right extremists, even outside of the lgbtq+ community.
in case you need examples of this, think n*zi germany, modern day US, most right wing parties in europe (first that comes to mind is the italian lega) and so on.
and the fact that even us in this community - who have been targeted for years with these arguments, who have been first-hand victims of this kind of propaganda - are falling for it, saying that the real danger to queer people is... other queer people whom we do not deem “worthy” enough is frankly horrifying.
a kid that uses 30+ labels isn’t your enemy. an elderly trans person who just realised they were trans isn’t your enemy. the lesbian who reclaimed a slur because it feels empowering isn’t your enemy. the butch trans femme or the feminine trans masc isn’t your enemy. the person using neopronouns, or the aroace person, or the person who identifies as pan or the bi person with a preference- none of them are your enemy.
treating them as such will only cause the community to be fractured, and our strength comes from unity. so let’s focus on real issues, and not whether or not you think someone who doesn’t feel sexual attraction is queer enough to sit at your Cool Kids Table.
none of us are the cool kids, so let’s stick together rather than drive each other away
for those who say classical music is boring, tell me that listening to tchaikovsky doesn’t literally yeet your soul into the astral plane. i dare you. if they played the swan theme on radio people would simply lose their goddamn minds over it
i ordered some stuff on aliexpress that’s supposed to get here in 30-50 days call that suicide prevention for myself
i can’t remember the last time i picked up a book for fun but if anyone asks me any personal questions i will always say i’m a reader at heart
