“You didn’t come out here for the cold either…” Her eyes drifted back to the open book on her lap. Words on a leaf, that’s all she saw. She could hardly comprehend the meaning of the text. She could read the words, of course, but processing them was different. The medication in her system hazed her mind and Isabelle realized she would be like that for probably a long while until they judged she was no longer a danger to herself. They would lift the stronger medication whenever they assumed they wouldn’t end up running into a corpse in her bedroom. Being a patient with suicidal tendencies certainly offered less freedom than just a junkie one.
“I’m here for the cold,” she stated. Maybe the cold could make her feel something. It didn’t.
Elijah made his way over to the patient, wary of what she was saying. Why would someone come out here for the cold? The therapist squatted down next to her, looking over at the open book on her lap and then up at her face.
“Are you alright? Why’re you trying to.. I mean, why are you here for the cold?”
Cora entered the room. She saw a person she had’t seen before, but he was in her way.”Sorry dude, just trying to get past without getting in your way.”
“Oh, ahm.. Nah, you’re not in my way. Ahm..” he mumbled, shifting slightly away from the door. He hadn’t even realized he had meandered from his office, remembering he had went to go find someone to speak with about his lack of files. “M’sorry,” Elijah said, an embarrassed blush flushing to his face.
Rebecca had been walking around. She was already bored, and didn’t know what she wanted to do. She had just walked into a room when she heard someone say something. She turned around rolling her eyes. “Yes?” She mimicked. “Is there anything to do here?”
“Not in here there isn’t. Seeing as it is an office. My office. I think there’s a library here? And an art room? That’s something to do.. The outside area is still open, as well,” he said with a small shrug. This place wasn’t much and he wished there was more for the residents to do here.
“Alright.” Ivanka smiled politely. “It’s nice to meet you.” She closed the door behind her before turning back around to face the man. She nodded and bit her bottom lip. “Yes, I do. I, um, it’s just- I couldn’t sleep last night. At all.” She sighed. “Then I fell asleep involuntarily this morning at breakfast and at around eleven at the library. I nearly missed lunch because of it.”
She didn’t know if he knew her file and her diagnosis , if he would change her medication without checking it. She felt a faint blush creep up her neck. Ivy always felt uncomfortable talking about where and when she just fell asleep again. She knew it wasn’t exactly her fault. She also knew quite well that it was better when she actually slept at night. “I wanted to ask if you could add something to make me sleep to my medication for the night. Just tonight. Please.”
“Ahm, well.. I can’t just prescribe you something without knowing your files. Is what you’re on now not a high enough dosage? I, ahm, I can go check in the file room for your file and come back to see if there is something I can give you? Since it’s just.. Just for tonight. I wouldn’t want you to not sleep again. Ahm.. Is there anything else ya can tell me about what.. What is up?”
Ivanka had actually tried to sleep last night but found herself unable to do so. She knew it wasn’t healthy, being awake for as long as she usually was. Now she’d asked one of the nurses if she could have something to make her sleep with her usual medication in the evening. She told her she wouldn’t do so, since she didn’t have her personal file, nor was she authorized to do so. She advised her to talk to a therapist or the medical doctor.
Just as Ivy gave up searching for her usual therapist, she saw some new staff member entering his office. The sign next to the door stated that this one was a therapist too, so Ivanka decided that he’d do just as well. Still, she waited a few minutes until she actually had the courage to talk to this man. With a knock on the door, she entered the office. She stayed close to the door, ready to leave in a heartbeat. “Hello. I’m sorry to interrupt you. I’m Ivanka. Ivanka Harp.”
“Oh, ahm, there’s really nothing to interrupt I’m just.. Here. Ahm, well, yes, hello, Ms. Harp. I’m Dr. Darr,” he said, voice clipping at the end of his sentence as his face contorted ever so slightly in annoyance at himself. It didn’t feel right calling himself Dr. Darr, it felt like grit clenched between his teeth.
“Although, you can just call me Elijah. Do you.. Do you need any help?” The therapist shifted from behind his desk, wondering if this girl was going to be one of his patients.
It always felt weird being in a new place with new people, new smells, new atmosphere. It made it even worse that he hadn’t gotten any of his patients files yet and he was supposed to start his sessions tomorrow. Today he was supposed to be sorting out papers and figuring out how to order every little thing. This place was going to drive him nuts, he was sure of it.
With the sound of footsteps entering the room, he looked up. “Yes?” he inquired to the unknown person, cocking his head ever so slightly to the side.
Azure orbs stared at the long, thick wall that surrounded the old, medieval-like household that was nowadays a mental institution. Those icy blue eyes glared at the coldness of the stones, mind half-empty, debating whether or not allowing the thoughts in. It was dangerous to let her brain function these days, no thoughts were anywhere close to bliss or positivity. A small part of her wanted to find an escape, but the wholesome of her being couldn’t care less where they locked her up. Added by the meds that a staff promptly shoved down her throat as her head she was suicidal, Isabelle really didn’t care, all that mattered was the apathy she felt eating her from the inside-out.
She had a book on her lap, which she have been trying to read for the past hour but always found herself distracted by the environment around her. That small yard, the moist grass where she was sitting on, they brought odd feelings, but none that could snap her out of her indifference. She heard breathing nearby and the blonde slowly turned her face to look at the person. “There ain’t no birds ‘round here no more. There used to be tons of ‘em…” It was winter, it was understanding most birds wouldn’t be out there. Still, it was personal analogy to who she was the first time she was there and who she was now. First, a humming bird, warmed by the sunlight; now, caged in the cold somewhere, where singing was pointless.
The older male was new to Eichen, wandering aimlessly through the halls to attempt to become acclimated with it all. He wished there was color, not blinding white that felt as if it could burn his corneas if he looked at it for long enough. It’s not as if he didn’t know why everything was so white, so monotonous. He knew it was to keep this place from triggering any of the patients here and it made the hollow of his heart ache. This wasn’t a place for people to live. Especially if they were young.
Ahead of him, he saw light pouring through from the outside and made his way to it. Elijah knew there was a garden somewhere around, but hadn’t found it until now. He walked into the open area, not taking notice of anything except for the looming trees and masses of bushes that were decaying slowly until he heard the soft flutter of another human’s voice.
“Oh, ahm, I didn’t come out here for.. For the birds.”
This isn’t even real. Nope.
Ignore everything underneath this post i am too lazy to go back and delete them and i actually like some of the conversations
elizabeth-lilly-white:
“I just uh.. wanted to talk to someone. The nurses kicked me out of my room for a search, and I don’t know half the people in here anymore.”
Elijah waved her in,opening cabinets to put papers in. “Well, you can come in and talk if you would like. How’re you?”
