I envy cis people. Because even if you are some form of queer, you only have to come out. That’s your big hurdle. I’m not denying that cis queer people face troubles and hate, but as a transgender boy, when I come out, I’m changing how that person sees me forever. And then we have to discuss the next steps, and what to call me, and they have to constantly watch it so they don’t misgender me. And they will misgender me, because they’ve thought of me in a certain way for so long. I have to get surgeries and take hormones - none of which you have to do. You come out, and you’re done. They don’t have to watch what they call you. It doesn’t concern them in the least bit.
I can’t afford to be me. And I won’t be able to stand the look on my mom’s face when I tell her.
