you can’t simply ask the question ‘is supernatural good?’ and expect a yes or no answer. the thing about supernatural is that it’s SO long. there’s over 300 episodes and like 60% of them range from mediocre to bad to straight up terrible and offensive. but the remaining 40% range from decent to good to really good with some accidental peaks of brilliance that you simply cannot find if you just watch a few episodes here and there. a casual viewer will say it’s a really bad show and they’re not wrong but they don’t KNOW that sometimes if you commit to watching several dozens of terrible episodes you’ll come across one or two that are actually pretty good and maybe you’ll even stumble upon a story or character arc that if you stop to think about for a bit instead of taking at face value will kind of rearrange something in your psyche. the ONLY way to unlock the secret good supernatural is to obsess over the traditionally bad one, which is why if you haven’t watched at least a few seasons (and if you’ve only watched cas-less seasons it doesn’t count) you don’t get it, because you CAN’T.
