Mornings with Brigitte
It’s impossible for Monday’s to suck when they start off like this 👅
September 1969. ‘Watch the action… as skirts and pants move up in the fashion world.’
VEGANISM IS A PRIVILEGE.
not everyone can survive on a vegan diet, and not everyone has access to a vegan diet. Vegans need to remember that being vegan is their CHOICE, and that its a choice that only privileged people get to choose. Veganism is a privilege.
You know what else is a privilege? Meat. Taking third world countries’ grains and feeding them to your animals so you can eat meat and dairy while they starve, that’s fucking privilege. Using the unprivileged people of the world to perpetuate the idea that veganism is some elite club instead of a social justice movement, real fucking neat, that. Congrats.
Here’s what veganism is - it’s recognizing that the human animal is not superior to other animals when it comes to moral value, and that we do not have the right to exploit and kill them unnecessarily any more than we have the right to do it to another human. And a vegan is someone who lives according to this - avoids animal exploitation as much as possible. Anyone can do this. Anyone. A poor, starving man receiving and eating non-vegan food is not a problem. The problem is the little teenage girl ordering a cheeseburger saying “well, hey, that homeless man is eating meat right now, so can I! Veganism is a choice, weee!”
Now why don’t you go buy yourself a plane ticket, fly over to Palestine and meet up with their animal rights organization that serves vegan food and teaches children how to channel their feelings of aggression into something positive instead of hurting local animals, teaches them how to respect animals. Go visit and explain how your work for animal rights amounts to a tumblr post in big letters saying “VEGANISM IS A PRIVILEGE” that does absolutely nothing but encourage warm, safe and fed white kids to nod their heads enthusiastically and make a note of another cool excuse why it’s okay to kill animals.
