Ximena sat on the other side of Ivy, her eyes resting on the woman as she kept some pressure against the wound, making sure that it didn’t bleed anymore than it had. She hated this - everything had seemed so simple only hours earlier. After the bombshell of a lifetime had been dropped on her about the love of her life, she had been feeling angry and confused on why he would hide it from her and now here she was with no way to contact him and find out if he was okay. All she wanted now was to be in his arms and forget any of this was happening.
She lifted her eyes up towards him as he stood up, pressing her lips together. “I think the best thing for all of us to do right now is to stay put,”
Ivy hadn’t really thought today would be one of those ‘reevaulate your entire life and every decision you’ve ever made’ kind of days, but between the hurricane and the now extremely painful hole in her side, well. She had been at the window, trying to get some kind of idea of what they were dealing with when she’d heard the voice calling her back toward the back as the building had started shaking a bit. She hadn’t actually intended to run toward the back, because in her own mind, she was completely calm and at ease, because they were absolutely going to be fine and get through this. She hadn’t intended to trip on anything, either, not realizing that there were hazards that she wasn’t taking into account as she moved toward the back of the building.
And yet, here she was, tripping over something and intending to catch herself or collect herself once she hit the floor, but before she could really collect herself, a sharp pain in her side had her groaning out and reaching down to figure out what she had hit. And finding something sticking out of her. Almost afraid to look down and see exactly what it was, she let out a weak, “Guys?” eyes closing to try and block out the pain and letting out a weak cough.
It was a bit of a blur for her after that, things happening, movement rustling her and making her wince, whatever was in her side being pulled out and then hands pressed against it. She managed a few more weak coughs, eyes occasionally opening up and closing again. The noise from the storm was a constant lull, and she wondered if now would be the time to start praying or something.
When she managed to tap back into something semi-conscious, she glanced around her and managed to grab at Eliot’s sleeve. “Hey. Are your mom and brother okay? Have you managed to reach them?” She somehow managed a weak little smile at him, something she hoped was reassuring even as her free hand reached down to find Xi’s pressed against her side. It was wet and sticky, warm from where she was bleeding, but at least there wasn’t something sticking out of her side anymore. “Is there a first aid kid in this place? I could use some aspirin.” Somewhere, in the back of her fuzzy mind, that was funny and caused her to chuckle a little. “Or… just some water.”
Eliot was fairly certain he had blacked out there for a minute. Somewhere in between standing up to stretch his legs, and now back on the floor with a bleeding Ivy in his arms. Apparently he had vomited, there was evidence that had happened on the other side of the room, but other than that he couldn’t... He couldn’t remember anything that had happened. How could his brain bother to make memories when his best friend had a piece of fucking pipe embedded in her side?
As he faded back into reality the taste of bile, tears on his face, and the sort of faraway look on Ivy’s face forced their way into his senses. She was asking him a question, quiet, and would have been difficult to hear with the rain and wind pounding against the building, but now he could barely comprehend the words.
“We have-We--What--” Eliot stammered, tripping over his tongue, desperate for something, anything, “What can we do? Fuck-- Water--” Ivy needed water but she was leaned up against him, and if he moved he would probably hurt her. Goddammit, was so fucking helpless.
