Out there with the lilies and the birds there is silence. But what does this silence express? It expresses reverence before God, that it is He who disposes, and He alone, to whom belongeth wisdom and understanding. And just because this silence is reverence before God, it is (so far as it can be in nature) worship. And because this silence is so solemn, therefore it is that one senses God in nature- what wonder indeed when everything keeps silent in reverence before Him!
