I'm finally able to share the illustration I had the pleasure of creating for Fantastika 2024, inspired by Ulisse Aldovrandi's Serpens Marinus!
I wanted to create a mix between the mythological figure and thalassophobia, a theme that always intrigues me deeply.
A big thanks to Ivan for welcoming me into the group of incredible artists at Fantastika! And I want to remind you that you can find us at the Rocca di Dozza on September 21st and 22nd!

Hey mama Larian can you please add this interaction in *that* particular moment, because I think we all need it EDIT: Since I've read some comments here and on Twitter that seem to refer to my drawing and my "request" (clearly ironic, I hope it's understood!), I want to clarify one thing: this is just a drawing to express my feelings as a fan who, in that precise moment, just wanted to console the character. Astarion's quest is beautiful and perfect as it is. I love it because it's written perfectly. Right after defeating Cazador, Astarion NEEDS to feel that his body is his own again, and that's it. So no, there really isn't any need for a new interaction to hug him (unless, in the interaction, he himself seeks the embrace, which is what I depicted in the picture: my Tav is 'receiving' the hug and his expression of his feelings). I hope it's clearer now! xoxo
Thinking about this line from Cazador and what implies:
I keep thinking about how strange and new must have been for Astarion to finally be surrounded by people who actually listen to him and no one there to punish him for speaking up.
How it must have felt for him to be able to freely joke around and find that Tav actually laughs at his jokes and even joins in the fun. How new it must have been to be able to express himself and have people who actually listen to him and don't treat him like he is a nuisance, but truly listen to what he has to say.
I imagine a Tav who just listens, even when he is complaining and whining on purpose, they listen and maybe smile a bit between themselves because they've seen through him, and they never tell him to shut up, they let him vent, they listen to his stories about Cazador, they laugh with him at his jokes.
No wonder he falls so hard for Tav or becomes very fond of them in a friendship route.
After 200 years where even the Gods didn't care to listen, he has found someone who sits down with him and hears him out.

I might have a problem (and I think I'll share about it here) For context: she's Nimwaen, my Alchemist in D&D. She's an Aereni elf, but she was exiled due to some... "creative" alchemical experiments with totally unexpected side effects on one of her ancestors. If you are familiar with Eberron lore, you know that the Aereni despise creatures like necromancers or vampires... it would be truly unfortunate, then, to start developing feelings for one of them 💦 (I love this ref pack, I think I'll practice more on these photos in future)

recently found out about openverse which i think aggregates a bunch of creative commons images from flickr, wikimedia, nasa etc… pretty handy

Ohhh I'm so happy you're interested in my Nimwaen 🥺❤️ I'd love to write about them, but my mother language is italian and unfortunately I'm not skilled enough in english to write a whole fanfiction properly. But I'll draw more sketches about them for sure ❤️
