Why do you think men get so angry at women being attracted to Ben? Itâs such a weird phenomenon to me
I think because those men who talk like this already donât think Ben is cool or different than Vader so when they see so many women being attracted to him or what he is or gush about him more than they could have possibly anticipated, they feel undermined on the position of who gets to decide what is deemed acceptable to like and in which way.
Men especially have always considered SW to be âtheir thingâ . Women donât get to come in here and decide what goes where and how one is supposed to react to which character or plotline. When women had any interest in SW it was usually a dirty secret in their garage where they sell their proto-Fanfics or were jeered as lesser, stupider fans if not outright bullied away. They were always small and seperate.Â
Now With Ben and Reylo , the spotlight and influence of Transformative media on public, There are a LOT of women who get to decide on their terms which character is cool and amazing. Not the men. Fawning over how easily a villain could crush how many peopleâs windpipe is out. Yacking on and on about Trivia of what is the make and model of Amidalaâs ship is out. Referencing which fan is the most best based on how many stories of EU they can reference and who has the biggest podcast and who gets invited to work with Lucasfilm is out to.
None of the old criterion define now who is cool anymore. So does what they think. They hate it when the only reason we project we like Kylo is because he is hot and write thirst post. They hate the loss of control over what used to define fanboying over anything and Kylo has became an emblem of that enroachment.
Sure some of them also donât like Kylo, comparing him less favorably to Vader, also in terms which are getting outdated like whether he is stoic and emotionless and assured on what he wants to do in his villain like Vader whereas his emotional outbursts are compared to âweaknessâ( LMAO pathetic word choice . You can see where i am coming from) . So that is also a big factor in their insecurity and lashing out on women by making them feel inferior about the way they stan and who they stan. But i also think its way bigger than just general insecurity. The one a tweet talked about how Kylo is hot in a they could be hot too but they arenât because they are lazy or they consider it âweaknessâ . ( I think the tweet said it about Driver but it applies to Kylo too. Kylo is hot to us because he is emotionally available no matter what he does while Men mostly label it away as weakness)Â
So when you find some of them like that?? Rest assured know that they are insecure little f*cks who cannot handle SW being a playground not being run by their set of rules anymore and MASSIVE insecurities in more levels than one.Â
