Bastille - Bad Blood (Live At The Troubadour) 2014
"I'll see you in the future when we're older And we are full of stories to be told. Cross my heart and hope to die, I'll see you with your laughter lines." - Laughter Lines, Bastille
Something about this verse, from this song, makes me feel so nostalgic. A mix of happy, sad, nostalgia, and hope.
Maybe it’s because they’re THE band I listened to as a teen. There were a few others, there were the popular songs of that time, but I eventually grew out of those and never really went back to them as I got older.
Then there was this bloody brilliant band.
Not particularly famous, at least where I lived. Sure, they’ve had multiple chart-toppers, but they weren’t really the group everyone talked about (or at least not till 2018′s happier came out)
In the 7-ish years I’ve followed them, from Bad Blood days till the recently released Goosebumps EP, there were a few times when they fell off my radar, just for a bit. And then I’d go back and re-listen to whatever was out at that time, and I’d fall in love with them all over again, and just a bit more than the last time.
I’m pretty sure that I’ll continue to love them, even as they change up things, re-invent, experiment. And I’m glad for that! As brilliant as they were before, change is what keeps things fresh, interesting, both for them, and us.
So for Dan, Kyle, Will and Woody, thank you guys so much for being the wonderful band that you are. Xx Links to my other bastille posts: No Bad Days Goosebumps DLB Goosebumps@Lafayette DD Those Nights Of the Night
