How to create your Bunbunbee
Different kind of Bunbunbee
Common features of the species
How to enter a hive and list of hives
Origin of how and why I created them:
Bunbunbees are the mix between the myth of the moon rabbit and, that famous Tumblr post by @leopharry of the bee constellation. They have a space theme cause both of those sources reference stuff found in space.
Flufflebee (the name for a group/ colony of Bunbunbee) were created a month ago, somewhere in April 2020, by an emotional breakdown I had over my favorite show's last episode and the fact I’ve been quarantined for over a month and a half at that point and had seen nor my friends nor my boyfriend. I was crying all night and I needed something to help me feel better. So I sat in my room, alone, with Steven universe music, and created my first successful attempt at a Bunbunbee, Comet.
Bunbunbee’s general goal:
The primary goal of a Bunbunbee is to make people happy. They love to see every creature loving their lives without issues that make those lives unlivable or extremely hard. They will always do their best to help those in need and might create a relationship with one of the sad creatures. If it's the case, the Bunbunbee might decide to leave the hive to act as a guardian angel over that individual.
The secondary goal of a Bunbunbee is to find material to make their space honey. Space honey is mostly made of tears and a Flufflebee can't create enough tears by themself to make the amount of honey necessary.
The third goal of a Bunbunbee, if they live in a colony is to feed their honey to the stars, especially the mother star which the hive is hung to. This honey makes them glow brighter and makes them visible to other beings on multiple planets. Bunbunbee believes that the stars have the power to relax those in pain.
Bunbunbee Colony (Flufflebee)
Bunbunbee as individuals can be born without their house mark or forget to draw it or get it damaged. This mark is really important because without it they can never find their way home. Life isn’t bad as a lonesome Bunbunbee, they can still make friends or find someone to watch over. Bunbunbee with a mark can decide to remove it so they can never go back or just never go home.
Bunbunbee have strong bonds with their hives. Similarly to bees, Bunbunbee have a hierarchy system.
Contrary to bees, the queen isn't the only one that is authorized to breed, workers can too.
Workers (honey maker and gatherer) represent the majority of the population (80%) and are considered as the lowest tier of the hierarchy. Gatherers are those that go collect tears while the Honeymaker processed those tears into space honey and feed it to stars. the fact they are in contact more regularly with honey makes them a higher rank than gatherers.
The courtship is made mostly of guards that protect the nest, the queen, and the king. They represent almost 20% of a hive population. When they attack someone with their dart, it will fall off but won’t kill them contrary to lower-ranked Bunbunbee.
The king is the one in charge of supervising the honey-making process and has a lower status than the queen. Contrary to bees, the male doesn't die after making offsprings with the queen. He also orders honey maker to deliver certain amount of honey to specific stars.
The queen is the leader of the hive. She is rarely outside, unfortunately, except when she got rejected from her first colony as a teenager. She then finds a star that she thinks would make a good nest and gather other lost or hiveless Bunbunbee to create a new nest. Once she has a hive, her role is to direct the king and the courtship to make sure everything is doing well and that everyone is safe, healthy, and has enough food.
That was my longest post ever but next one might be even longer so yeah stay tuned I guess. I’ll post it around monday or tuesday cause i need a break to create more content and for my homework.
