It was nice to meet you @second-generation-111. I think it's about time I got back to Lolita though...
Mum's... off trying to fix history right now.
But I can introduce you to Selve or Protera if you like...
Sure.
@new-101-timeship, @young-101-timeship
This is Christine.
She looks like mum…
She's mum's alter time counterpart...
I don’t like her
Why not?
She’s not my mother
I know... but, she could still be a friend... she liked my console room... sort of
Mine is better
Nuh uh!
Yeah huh!
Mine is cool and non euclidean and stuff!
Humans need water and farmland and lava to grow!
I had blood
But she said it was tryhard
They don’t like seeing it. They drink it out of small opaque bags
Ohhhh, thanks Selve.
@elizacousins do you want to drink some blood?
*gives her a small opaque bag of blood*
It should be her blood
Oh ok!
*gives her her blood*
They like sticks and things to climb
They do?
*taking notes*
Yeah! And having their internal dimensions stretched out. And external ones too. They like being archived
@elizacousins
Do you want to be archived?
What does that mean?
It means your mind gets saved as data and you die... I think.
Selve says humans like that.
Uh... not me, thanks.
@new-101-timeship
She doesn't like it...
Have you asked nicely and explained the immortality?
...What immortality?
I can make you live forever
How?
In my databanks
Um... I think I'll pass.
*pouts*
It’s a really nice enclosure
Yeah, I don't know how to say this, but... humans don't really like enclosures.
And big! You wouldn’t know!
Well... can I see it?
*opens her shell*
*it’s like a child’s crayon drawing was turned back into physical objects. It’s simultaneously too perfect and wrongly proportioned*
Huh...
*curiously steps inside and looks around*
*the door closes*
Like it? I’ve been practising!
It's... uh... really interesting.
The food grows over there!
*cartoon apple tree*
*picks one of the cartoon apples to look at it, turning it around in her hands*
I'm not hungry, but this is... kind of cool. What's it taste like?
Like… apple?
It tastes like the flavour of apples.
Right, yeah. Makes sense.
Did I get it right? I had to guess
Well... it's just a bit... simple? I mean, normal apples aren't bright red like this...
But apples are red. That’s what an apple is
Have you looked at a real apple?
Not with my own visual sensors…
Maybe you could try that? You know... get a better idea what things look like?
It’s less accurate than impression sensors
Impression sensors...? You mean you're... designing your apples based on what people think an apple is?
Yes? It’s for you, so it should be familiar
...
Okay, think of it this way. Humans don't have very good "visual sensors," so we can't see every detail of an apple, and each one's a little bit different anyway, so when we think of what an apple is, we kind of simplify a lot of different apples we've seen into something red and shaped like this.
Exactly!
Yeah, but we don't expect to see a real apple that looks like the ones we imagine. If that makes sense.
You want to be surprised?
Yeah, I guess we do.
*it flashes rapidly from red to green, and the edges blur as it continually rotates from space to shape. It’s still cartoonish and undetailed*
How’s this?
Uh... *holds it at arm's length away from her* Not sure I want to eat something that's changing like that...
But it’s surprising…
An apple shouldn't be surprising like that.
You don’t want it the same and you don’t want it different?
There's a middle ground in between that you're missing.
…
*makes half the apple surprising and the other very normal*
Look, how about we go to Earth, and I show you what an apple looks like?
Earth?
But it’s all… *gesture that encompasses the whole of the situation, without words or misunderstanding*
All...? Okay... yeah, alright. Are there apples anywhere else in the universe?
Yeah… but they’re thought of different
Let's try visual sensors this time, yeah?
Right.
*materializes on a terraformed colony world*
*steps outside*
So, what's this place called?
