ADAM BECHER DETESTED ALIA TERRA, ever since he was born he hated it. He hated the restraint, he hated the exceptions placed upon the Commander’s Son ( it was why he chose the name Becks for himself ), he hated this NEW WORLD crap when he had no semblance of the Old one. To others, Alia Terra was a brand new oasis, a paradise where man could start over and try not to fuck it up this time. To him, Alia Terra was just HOME—it wasn’t clean air and sunlight, it was just breathing and annoying sunny days that hurt his eyes after a night of partying. This wasn’t the land of opportunities and possibilities, it was a place where everyone woke up and lived the same day over and over again. It’s hard to have appreciation for the BEAUTY of a natural state of the world before its ruination when they just looked like boring trees and regular ol’ plants to him. ( It’s hard to know how much he’s taking it for granted when it’s all he’s ever known. ) The doe-eyed, awestruck look on the new recruits confused him and angered him, all he felt was constant pain and their wonder at this world felt like a mockery—how GREAT can this world be if his mother is dead and his father hated him? Well, there’s a reason why Abraham called him self involved.
Adam Becher hated Alia Terra, and that included the people inside it, the people who abandoned and betrayed him. The people who he used to call his neighbors threw him away like trash ( the trash that he was, as Shiloh Blake’s bloodied and unrecognizable face flashed in his mind ) and they got to live cushy, beautiful, safe lives while he slogged and destroyed his skin in the mud. He deserved his punishment, the exile, the scars on his skin, but it still HURTS when the claw drags against his forehead and left cheekbone. Really, when he was just a fresh faced boy defying the law and yet still hoping to make it through Guard training ( he only had a few more weeks to go before June 15th happened ), he didn’t think much about the Outsiders either way. If he had been honest, he thought they were COOL but had no plans to actually be part of them–ignoring his father’s orders was annoying to deal with but easier than living in the jungle, to put it incredibly simple. Now, however, you’d believe Adam was just buying his time until he could finally join them at Outpost 7, like he had chosen it instead of being forced to. Adam fully clung onto the identity of being an OUTSIDER, he treated it like he had always been one deep inside ( maybe he had ) now that he was no longer the Commander’s Son or even the Town Bully. He bought into Silver Zhen’s hype, the hype of the Outsiders, and was perfectly happy buying it. Better than being part of the Yates Cult, he believed.
The little shits that raided rovers and broke into Outposts? Adam was one of them, the scavengers, and hell, anything to fuckin’ stick it to Alia Terra. He was following the woman in an effort to raid the rover he believed she rode out on ( he wasn’t going to rob her at knife point or something, the Outsiders did have a CODE of ETHICS, contrary to popular belief ) but hadn’t found any evidence of one near them–yet. His footsteps were too loud, Aurora really was much better at tracking, and soon he was found out. ❝ Ah, fuck, ❞ He whispered in a small groan, head darting up to see the woman looking for the source of the noise, looking for him. With a sigh, Adam stepped out from the foliage and shrugged, ❝ Alright, ya’ caught me. ❞
WHEN THE MAN STEPPED OUT from behind the dense brush, Phoebe let her hand fall to her side, yet her arm remained tense and taut; ready if need be. From beneath the cloak of long eyelashes, her eyes passed over her company. He was familiar, yet unfamiliar; his most notable feature was a prominent crimson line etched deeply into his skin. Phoebe’s careful and hardened gaze trailed passed his face and over his clothing, searching for any minuet bumps beneath the fabric. It wasn’t as though she could stop and frisk the man. The gears turned about inside the woman’s head as she rocked back upon her heel, but her trusted weapon idled at her thigh. As she stood, the hands upon her watch ticked mercilessly upon her wrist and finally, Phoebe addressed the man, “Why’re you following me?” her head canted a bit, “I mean, maybe I didn’t get the memo, but we’re not playing follow the leader here,” her tongue rolled over her dry lips.
Though she masked it with a dry jest, Phoebe remained wary. She was sure of it; he was and Outsider. One of Silver Zhen’s loyal followers. While animosity toward the Outsiders sat heavily within the hearts of many of Alia Terra’s citizens, conflict stirred inside Phoebe. Loyalty burned brightly inside of her, yet she would not discredit those who had chosen to follow the leader. Still, she knew that ill feelings swelled deeply between Alia Terrains and Outsiders; like a sickly brown mix of muddied waters. She had no trust for the man. Outsiders were notorious thieves and she wasn’t sure if the man had any friends
“I hate to break the news to you, but I come alone; rover not included,” she began again, green hues searching his features for a reaction; the quirk of a brow, twitch of the lips. The brunette shifted her weight from one foot to the other, her hand still clasped tightly around the hilt of her machete, “They don’t let me drive those things anymore, not since the last joyride,” her shoulders raised in a small shrug and she could almost hear her brother chastise her for joking in the face of confrontation.
How terrible is it to be called beautiful, smart and strong but end up being alone every night.

jared;
Jared was standing off to the side of the clearing near the front gate as he started gearing up for his mission outside the gate. He finished checking his gear before slipping on his vest as he caught the crunch of loose dirt and gravel getting closer to him. “If your here to ask about the picture I took of me and the Rex, its hanging on the wall of the Ranger Station.” He said turning to see who was walking up on him.
PHOEBE’S TONGUE GLIDED OVER HER lips and she folded her arms up against her chest, “If I hear about your Rex selfie one more time, Kincaid, I swear I might just sew your mouth shut,” the woman spoke dryly as her eyes passed over the other ranger, “If you ask me, we need some new wall art. You headed out too? Maybe you should bring your camera,” her lips curled upward as she shrugged on her jacket.
Don’t let your loyalty become slavery. If they don’t appreciate what you bring to the table, then let them eat alone.

AS ONE OF ALIA TERRA’S rangers, Phoebe Grant was familiar with the vast wilderness that surrounded the sanctuary barred behind sturdy walls. It was her job to step out from the safety of those walls; to explore. Discovery, exploration was her raison d’etre. Save the danger of sharp teeth and claws that could rip flesh open with a single flick, Phoebe relished in the quiet and the unearthing of new locations. Because of that, it was often that the ranger strayed from the others. She was loyal to a fault to the rangers, but she pulled away from the group setting, preferring to set off on adventures by herself. It worried her parents sick and made her brother look much older than he was, but Phoebe couldn’t help herself. She was still much like the little girl that journeyed off into the woods in Rhinebeck, New York.
The woman was tactful as she traipsed through the dense foliage beyond the barriers. The undergrowth sunk beneath her boots and from beyond the greenery came the dreadful screech of a T-Rex. Phoebe’s teeth wore into her chapped lower lip as emerald rings flitted up to look at the blanket of broken green that shrouded the broad forest. Between her fingers she held her favored weapon; a machete, lovely nicknamed Bertha. Perhaps it was her best friend, for it had gotten her out of many a situation. Holstered upon the brunette’s hip, a Glock 17, unnamed and not preferred. Phoebe continued on until a crunch and shuffling behind her made the woman spin about on the balls of her feet. Her eyes darted about the moss-laden forest. Her heart pounded beneath her rib cage and the brunette raised her weapon as her tongue rolled over her lips, “C’mon out,” she called. As she sat, listening, Phoebe deduced that her company was not a gaggle of Carnos or any other carnivorous creature that lurked about in the jungle, for, if that were true, she was sure they would have shown themselves, “I don’t bite. Unless you do,” her upper lip twitched in a wry smile as she waited for the other to respond.
I’m gonna win, I’m gonna try I’ll never lose, I’ll never die You’ve seen me before, you’ll see me again I’ll never give up, I’ll never give in Til I’m bloody and bruised Til I’ve broken my bones Til I won’t be abused Til I’m laughing alone
Just do what makes you happy. Sounds simple, doesn’t it?
