‘‘ there you are ! ’’
the sudden appearance of the weasley family locket had taken her by surprise. given to bill when he turned 17, & then to fleur when they were wed. it had been passed onto dominique for her thirteenth birthday. a gift from her mother ; sure, she wasn’t the eldest weasley, but perhaps it was an apology for her middle child syndrome. it was a sign that she was just as important to the family as her siblings & cousins. & because of that, dominique had worn it with PRIDE.
& it had been missing for a little less than a week, disappearing one night while she was sleeping. she didn’t want to admit to anyone that she had lost it, so she stayed QUIET on the matter, silently searching & begging to merlin that it be found.
& so, it would seem that dominique was in luck. as she sat down near the punch table & knocked back her seventh drink of the night, the locket would appear at her side, seemingly by magic. had she not been intoxicated, she likely would’ve questioned how on earth that happened, but she didn’t. & instead, unclapsed the locket and reattached it around her neck. her mood skyrocketed & she finished up her drink before heading back onto the floor to continue to dance the night away.
it wasn’t too long later that she started to feel SICK. her head was spinning, her ears ringing, & everything around her started to dissolve & warp. people becoming faceless shadows. screaming ringing out —— anger, hurt, fear ——- ‘‘ it’s your FAULT ! ’’ she hears someone shout. ‘‘ you didn’t HELP ! you’re useless ! ’’ someone else screams. tears burn in her eyes & her legs give out.
her hands cover her ears, & shes overwhelmed with pain. her back arches & she can feel every single bone shifting and grinding together. her muscles contract and ACHE. she must be screaming, because her throat is BURNING & the coppery taste of BLOOD is overwhelming her tongue. she can’t hear anything aside from accusations that she FAILED, that she couldn’t make up her mind, that she’ll never do enough ; that she’ll never be enough. she’s trying to do something great & she’s trying too hard & she’s going to fall flat on her face & ——-
she’s not on the ground anymore.
her body is floating in the air, her nails digging into her scalp as a last ditch effort to keep her arms from being pulled away from her head, but it fails. her arms spread out wide, & she continues to scream in absolute agony as it feels like she’s being burned ALIVE from the inside out. her arms & legs go stiff, & she’s still as a statue as the locket pops open. it burns more than ever. she tries to scream out, but her mouth seems to be stuck shut, so her teeth merely GRIND together.
the hall goes dark ; from the locket floats up the symbol of the neo-death eaters. dominique sees it, & suddenly, everything in her head is silent. the pain is gone.
one.
two.
three.
she’s falling from the air & crashes to the ground. the pain is back, still burning and torturous ; but less extreme. with every movement she can feel her bones & muscles crashing & squishing together and it’s most painful than anything she’s ever imagined. she rips off the locket & tosses it away, but it doesn’t change anything. she still hurts, & she can still hear the voices. ( ‘‘ idiot ! that did nothing ! you think you can fix this !? ’’ )
dominique curls in on herself ——- utterly unaware of her surroundings. & sobs.
As Eliza stood by chaperoning the ball, she couldn’t help but let all of the memories of her Hogwarts days flood her mind. Yes, she too once one of the many young witches who had passed through these halls and gone to events like these. Those were very happy times in her life. She smiled to herself as the memories continues to play and her eyes watched over the crowd.
Her thoughts were interrupted as she greeted a few students as they passed. The woman then made her way over to the punch bowl. She reached for a cup and the ladle, then poured some for herself. If she had gotten the chance to taste the punch, she would have known that it had been spiked, but she hadn’t had the chance. Something was not right.
Hearing a screech, Eilza whirled around, and dropped her cup on the floor. Her eyes watched in disbelief as the a student lifted up from the floor and floated. The flash from the symbol of the neo-death eaters cause her to shield her eyes for a brief second, then she took off. Without a thought crossing her mind, she was running through the crowd towards the student.
“Move! Back away!” She shouted as she tried to reach the young girl as fast as she possibly could. It seemed like it wasn’t fast enough, but as soon as Eliza reached the student, she scooped her up into her arms. Hearing the sobs broke her heart. How terrifying all of this must have been for her. Lifting her hand, she brushed the hair out of the girl’s face, then returned it to hold onto her tightly. “Someone get help. Now!” She shouted again, as she looked up at the crowd around them.
