Answering this as my first post in who knows how long because I would love to talk about this actually.⤵︎

Sully and Lily are relatively new to the area they live in (about two years), Roman was the first friend that Sully had made. They have one of those "How could I not fall for him?" type of dynamics.

Sully can count on one t-Rex hand (his fault, but anyways) the amount of people in his corner, and Roman is one of them. Roman, who's a great listener, empathetic, and just overall an amazing guy, made it easy for anyone, especially Sully, to fall for him.

It almost made Sully angry? Like how dare Roman make him fall for him and confront that closeted bisexuality he hadn't thought about since high school? Because Roman is the first man he's had a crush on since then. Luckily for Sully, he'd only been with women (unforced, genuinely liked them all) then Roman came into his life.

Unfortunately for Sully (and me) Roman is straight, very nice and accepting, but straight. He's also not stupid. I think Roman noticed that Sully might have started feeling some type of way towards him and tried to very gently signal that he's not interested. He hesitates to confront Sully head on out of fear he's wrong, but then Sully drunkenly kisses him one night…. and promptly ignores him for about a month (somehow, someway despite being neighbors).

Roman finally manages to track him down and reassures Sully that he doesn't mind and that he supports him but he can't reciprocate his feelings. Sully, of course, would've tried to shut the line of conversation down but Roman persists through.

They’re cool now, but there’s this underlying awkwardness (mainly on Sully’s side, honestly. Mainly because the feelings are definitely still there).
