like obviously interests change over time but it's still so funny to observe

like i used to go to ALL the politics related book talks in the area and now unless it's political theory i'm like pass pass pass

that was back when i still had hope in american democracy

these days it's like yes let's go to the nature and science talks i'm tired of author 198474 trying to explain why we are at this political moment and what we can do about it

anyways this was my downfall

me comparing two dates, using valueOf() and expecting at least one match in my comparator, but not finding any, changing it to compare via ISO strings, and finding THAT fucking matches: the dates haven't changed!!! why does valueOf() not work but toISOString() does they're the same fucking date and should be the same fucking value just displayed in different ways!!!!!

me, eventually, after lots of blood, sweat and tears: oh.

this has probably been one of the most frustrating features i've worked on in EONS. it took me forever to design it, first of all, and i went through like 5 different iterations of the logic. tried one thing, realized it didn't work, refactored it back, decided actually maybe the original thing i tried could work if i tweaked it just slightly, nevermind refactor it again, so on and so forth.

then i finally arrive at a solution that i think should work. it doesn't work. spend an hour debugging it. realize oh! fix the thing. still doesn't work. another hour debugging it.

finally at the point where i'm like. IT SHOULD FUCKING WORK. why the FUCK isn't this working!?

spend another hour trying random shit until it worked

but the most frustrating part was the hot loading OH. MY. GOD.

the app has always been slow in my dev env but jesus CHRIST. took slow to a new level today. swear to god it took like 1 full minute between each save to reload the data and get it to a point where I could run through my tests.
