Happy Captain Bierto Wednesday, Sweet Ones!

It’s been a while since we talked. Are you doing okay? Been weathering the storms as best you can? It’s wonderful to see you again. Come in, come in! There’s always tea and a warm seat for you by the fire at the Lighthouse.

Since Dragon Shanty’s release, fans have been celebrating our beloved Captain Bierto with a weekly holiday of sorts, especially in our Discord server. I wanted to celebrate this Captain Bierto Wednesday by letting you all know what’s been going on behind the curtain. I’ve been working on revamping and remastering Dragon Shanty, with the help of a network! That means more resources to make it into the show my heart has always wanted it to be. I’m so excited to bring it to life and keep this world going with all of you. Thank you all so much for keeping the light on with me over the years, it’s really helped keep this story going. And if you’re just joining us — welcome! We’re so glad you’re here.

I’ll be keeping this tumblr updated now that Dragon Shanty is picking up again, so keep an eye out! And while we all wait for our next big journey together, the original episodes and transcripts will still be up on dragonshanty.com.

Saw this meme in the wild and thought it would be funny to ask my sweet beautiful gf what she thought this was. Up until recently, she has only known the devil’s lettuce in small, curious doses. One of those small, curious doses resulted in her greening out and laughing for 20 minutes straight because she thought my (confused af) dog looked like jar jar binks.

Me: Hey babe. Using only the context from the meme, what do you think this is?

Gf (who is a golden retriever 24/7): Ok, I’ll play. :3

She takes it all in for a second, pursing her sweet lil mouth.

Gf: Hmm… you know how when you were a kid and you would make pretend guitars out of tissue boxes and rubber bands?

My eyes have already begun to water.

Me: I love where this is going, yes.

Gf: I think it’s like that, but a kazoo. :3

Dear reader in this moment she is so adorable and pure I consider dragging her to the nearest kazoo factory or museum and marrying her right then and there with a kazoo chorus playing unchained melody as we walk down the aisle.

Gf: or…

She purses her lips in the other direction.

Gf: some kind of fleshlight.

I start cackling so she starts cackling and when I finally catch my breath I realize this poor sweet woman needs another hint.

Me: ok, what if I told you the inside is stuffed with dryer sheets.

Gf: … I’m leaning MORE fleshlight now.

I don’t even stop to ask how or why. Dear god I need to save her from herself. So I point to my vape and explain, mascara streaming down my cheeks, what “penjamin” is.

Gf: Ohhhh… ok then, I’m gonna guess this is a homemade filter…

Me: Yes!

Gf: …you blow smoke into…

Me: YES!!!

Gf: …to try and disguise the smell.

Me: YES! THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT IT IS! YOU DID IT!!!

Gf: I DID IT!!!

In our moment of celebration I add, as equals, as colleagues:

Me: It’s called a sploof.

*record scratch*

Gf: … no. That’s a made up word.

Anyway moral of the story is talk to your gf about drugs so if she’s ever offered a sploof in the park she can make an educated decision. It’s actually so important.

In fact he actively tried to shut it down lmao. Lol even.

And now my girlfriend came into the picture at the tail end of blaseball, during one of the last siestas, and never really got to play with me. But she sees how excited I get and loves how much it was an outlet for art and even though she didn't get to play, she's just as much of a fan as I am, and blaseball holds a very special place in this house.

Anyway the moral of the story kids is to surround yourself with people who love to see you happy. Love doesn't try to shut you down when you're glowing.
