My kids frequently play in Dempsey park and cars pass at an excessive speed through that intersection so that a child can get easily hurt
Residing next to this intersection and Dempsey Park, I am concerned for the safety of my children crossing Tamworth. Drivers often either drive too fast or assume there is an all-way stop here, causing confusion and near accidents.
Safer for children going to and from Dempsey Park. Cars are too fast in this intersection.
As a pedestrian going to work I am at risk from the fast north south traffic. Lots of confusion at the intersection. Quite busy lots of children going to school. Commuter traffic travels fast to Parkholm.
I am concerned about the safety on the neighborhood children
Safety of pedestrians is a priority.
I am signing because I think it can make our streets safer.
The safety of the children in this neighbourhood should always come first.
One of my son's friends was hurt a few years ago in a car accident at this intersection.
Residing next to this intersection and having three young children who play in Dempsey Park (across this intersection), I see nearly daily the confusion and risk to safety this intersection poses to both pedestrians and drivers, most of whom behave as if this is an all-way stop intersection. Near accidents are frequent and an all-way stop needs to be implemented to prevent injury, or worse.
I walk by this intersection often. Too many cars speed by and/or cut the corner. Many pedestrians walk east/west and vice versa across this intersection
It is a road I travel often and I have experienced issues with both pedestrians and vehicles.
I have witnessed three accidents involving cars and bicycles in the last 8 years, and many near accidents involving pedestians because many people treat this intersection as a 4- way stop.
I have witnessed many near accidents at this intersection and believe a four way stop is imperative to maintaining community safety.
The traffic moves quickly on this stretch of Tamworth, yet some drivers already treat this as a 4-way stop. This creates a situation that is dangerous for motorists, and especially dangerous for the many pedestrians using this route.
We frequent this area with our two children. A four way stop is required in order to ensure our safety.
Not only do I walk there, but I also drive and I've seen many near accidents. It is a busy corner and it sorely needs the stop sign.
I would like to support any initiative that provides safe roads for our kids & community
I am signing because I am living right at the corner of Ellerlsie and Tamworth and I see a great need for this part of the road to be a four-way stop. Children cross this streets to go to school at peak hours and I have seen so many car accidents and near misses of children cycling or in strollers right across our house.
My kids play at the park frequently and we need to keep speed control in the area. Thx
I have experienced numerous "close calls" at this corner over the past 16 years between cars pulling out on Tamworth from Ellerslie and pedestrians crossing Tamworth while walking on Ellerslie. I have also arrived at this corner a number of times after accidents have occured.
Many times cars (or well the drivers) 'think' there is a stop here, so they stop, sometimes they do not....and with so many kids heading to and from the park, and also folks crossing to get to the Subway, along with kids heading to Willowdale Middle School (at the top of Ellerslie) it just makes sense to get a stop sign at this intersection.
These are our children, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters. Please help prevent a needless accident or death.
