The entire country of Italy bullying John Travolta was not on my 2024 bingo card, and yet here we are
Was deep in the unhappy blahs about Eurovision 2024 (don't think broadcasters who have contributed to conditions leading to ethnic cleansing or genocide should get to play and that takes out a few) but then the eesti laul semi finalists dropped and now I've still got Eurovision ambivalence but national finals? There's my jam.
[imagine writing something deep on tumblr but it's kind of longer than an insta caption and so i guess this is it?]
I think my most closely held principle is the universality of human rights. It is what tells me how things in the world should work, how people should be treated, and how I ought to value myself.
Conversely, what I see as the great evil of this century is when people and governments have tried to convince us that human rights are not for them, them or them. No, no, no, human rights are definitely for everyone.
If you try to tell me otherwise I think that you either want to exploit, destroy or add hate to the world so that you can exploit or destroy later.
And that's as much as I know.
I just realised what the venue for the upgraded Käärijä gig in Glasgow actually is - it's the bar/party room in the new Rangers FC hospitality block.
I knew I'd never heard of any other events being hosted in the 'Clyde Rooms' but it took until I saw my tickets tonight to realise what the deal was.
Anyway, I guess I'll pop a little jacket on over my green.
everybody shut up, she’s doing her little dance again
(fullview for better quality!)
I feel like of all my adventure pals she has the least damaging personality problems. She can do what she wants.
Watching ancient danish movies and found this gem
I am really really really looking forward to the albums Måneskin make when they are 30.
I am imagining them freed from major label promo constraints, writing in Italian, laughing about how crap it was when they had to do all that LA nonsense. Píu vecchio ma píu saggio.
Here's hoping their friendship and circumstances allow.
My problem is that I like collecting things and putting them on a little shelf
It's got to the point where I'm embarking on a project to make myself a museum display coffee table so all the little lovely things can be in my eyeline and protected from dust and cats
🇫🇷 Amina - C'est le dernier qui a parlé qui a raison
had an autism moment at the computer part store today
I literally said "oh my god its beautiful" at the display of illuminated rocker switches.
Let me at them I want to touch, omg yum yum
(I went on a trip to the big listening station in the Chernobyl exclusion zone and there's a control room you can go in that has so many chunky labelled switches and control panels but is juxtaposed with these naive paintings of ICBMs against space backdrops. I cried at the humanness of it)
RIP Mr Swales. You had unbelievable chat and an accent that defied categorisation. You had incredible taste in views.
(note: St Mary's asks that you don't photograph the graves, which is why this picture of a bench in the graveyard doesn't feature any. There are some interesting ones, plus little markers inset into the paving. My main lesson though is that if you want your inscription to survive, sandstone on a north sea cliff is not the one)
Yeah it does just have an ominous, romantic aspect and I cannot deny it
Why are our friends Lucy and Mina not magnets?
I am heading Whitby-wards. It feels fitting, this time of year.
Don't recommend being on a conference call when a massively oooof set of penalties are happening. Muted, volume down on my mic and hands over my mouth. Considered unplugging.
Absolutely not deserved for England but the bright spot is that the tabloids aren't going to eviscerate Lauren James for losing it.
(again all the media build up was about how England have an easy route to the final, paying lip service to Nigeria's excellence)
Anyway oooooof.
