One of the things I love most about Joshua is how the game implies and even vaguely shows that he's been incredibly isolated and alienated both in life and death, and the place that he once thought could be an escape failed to reach his expectations so now he's just lonely And dead. It can be inferred that in life he was very isolated and no one took him seriously enough which eventually led him to believe his true place of belonging would be the UG, gaining power in the afterlife and trying to discard his humanity so no one can hurt him anymore, only to find that he doesn't really belong there either; The Higher Plane often doesn't approve of his actions with even Hanekoma of all people being prepared to interfere with his plans behind his back and the role of Composer keeps him bound to isolation even more so. Unwanted and lonely in every plane of existence. And the one time he finally finds someone who truly understands him and loves him and wants him he can't be with him. Because he's the Composer and must refrain from interfering further, he's not allowed to have human wants, resigning himself to bitterness and jealousy and despair. Destined to be lonely for all of eternity
