While some people don’t like Luke’s last words because they seem insignificant or out of character, to me they seem nostalgic and conclusive.

Don’t forget Han’s term of endearment for Luke, calling him “kid” when making fun of him, or even telling him to be careful.

“Kid” was probably also passed down to Ben and used by both Han and Luke, so it wasn’t random. It’s special enough that Luke was referencing the past and his relationship with Han in his final words, but by calling Ben “kid”, he is also ultimately coming full circle and reaching out to Ben one final time.
