“Well it-it’s not nice to not be feel-feeling well, th-three days is a long time. But not re-really worrying. Hopefully it-it’s nearly over.”

“Wait, you think three days is a long time?”

“I mean, who knows, maybe some married people spend their lives making out,” John suggests, “I’m pretty sure they don’t. Which is good, I feel as if it must get boring eventually.”

“My parents certainly don’t, but my dad might like that. Who knows,” she replied with a small laugh. “To be honest, I forgot the whole point of this conversation. I mean, what we were actually discussing.”

“Don’t worry, it’s nice that you’re so concerned anyway! No, just like, three days.”

“Well, yeah, I’ve only kissed one person once,” John says, staring at her for a moment, “But even if I hadn’t, I’m pretty sure most people would say they’ve spent more time not kissing people than kissing people, right?”

Eloise smiled slightly. “True, I guess. I mean, even if you’ve been married forever or just like casual flings there is only so much kissing you can do. I imagine people must tire of it.”

“I almost said something insensitive, but then I’d feel bad if something was actually wrong with you, Like, seriously wrong because that seems like an excessive amount of sick. Sorry for talking so much.”

“Perhaps, uh, s-some rest an-and increased water intake cou-could help. Wh-what sort of symptoms are you-you having?”

“Probably, but I can’t still still. Uhm, just a runny nose and too much sneezing. It’s annoying.”

“I mean, yeah, I’ve almost exclusively not kissed people my entire life,” John laughs.

For a moment, Eloise couldn’t tell if he was being serious or not. She looked at him, her head slightly tilted. “Wait, really?”

“We-well, I’m sorry you’re not feeling we-well,” Ollie says with a frown, “Bu-but you-you could t-try some dayquil or-or something? I-I might have some.”

“I tried,” Eloise replied with a sigh. “Nothing seems to work this time. I’m not sure why.”

At her statement, John smiles slightly and shakes his head, his eyes finding hers briefly, “I think we have self control, I just think we don’t always use it. Is it really that hard not to kiss someone? I mean, you know, I don’t really know.”

“Well,” she began, “I don’t think it’s that hard to not kiss someone. I mean I do that all time, don’t you?”
