PhD day 650 | So much is happening at once!! Making time to focus on my first article has been hard.

I'm going on a research stay in Japan for three months this fall

My fiancée and I bought an apartment and will be moving in July

Completed my PhD midway evaluation

My biggest win is still a master's student giving me a thank-you present after handing in her thesis 🥺 Supervising students has been so incredibly rewarding!

Monday 13 May

I’m finished with my final exams, so I’m finished with my undergraduate degree :( I’m feeling very lost and listless even though I’ve already established that I’m going to graduate school. I even have plans to do research over the summer. Still, it’s a big change, and I’ve said a lot of goodbyes. Some were more than welcome, others were painful. I’m mostly sad about leaving my research group here. This event also conjures the typical bittersweet feelings of becoming blatantly aware of the passage of time.

Anyway, wish me luck with my complex feelings!

02.05.2024 || I'm in the Alps for the long weekend and idk it's kinda weird to have such big mountains with snow and everything right in front of me... I've taken my master thesis here too and managed to write over a page already

And I have also became friends with a flock of hens!! Mountains are cool and stuff but the hens...!! :D

Finals are over!! Worst finals season by far but I made it through and so did my gpa🫡

last day of lectures, possibly ever! it's bittersweet, especially coming after an almost-all-nighter so i couldn't fully appreciate it. whenever i've taken breaks from education it's sitting quietly in a lecture theatre and learning that i miss most, it's like my natural habitat. however the thought of never being up until 6am doing problem sheets again is a relief 😌
