it is honestly amazing how much of writing and editing is just. logistics. like... do i use a name here or a pronoun? if i move this dialogue tag to the middle of this line and break it in half, does the end of the line hit harder that way? what if i move the tag to the front? what if i remove it entirely? ...wait, whose point of view am i in; can i reasonably say this character is appalled, or must i say they look or seem or sound appalled? is this a deliberate action or a step-removed one; is her hand closing on his shoulder, or is she closing her hand on his shoulder? environment environment environment, we need to break all this dialogue up with some narration, the scene is coming untethered. what! are! they doing! with! the rest of their bodies that are not hands! fuck fuck fuck FUCK i forgot we covered this two chapters ago and now i either need to cut this whole chunk or find a reason to reprise the conversation from earlier. name or pronoun? name or pronoun? name or pronoun? move this clause around in this sentence? oh i'll add this phrase-- nope, never mind, past!me added the same phrase two lines down. okay, if i add too much environmental narration it's going to take away from this bit, but not enough and it won't feel grounded. what if i move this to its own line? where the FUCK are their hands?

Your poses have so much energy and emotion in them! Do you have any tips for learning what kinda body language to use? I feel like every time I try to draw a pose, I get stuck trying to think how to show the right emotion and energy a character has. Like is there a shoulders back = confident cheat sheet?

Also I love your Link comics!! You draw the movement and hands so readable and it's awesome.

Just have fun and be okay with over-exaggerating your lines from time to time! I promise you, it gets easier and eventually becomes second nature.

It does no damage IC but when you fail a saving throw the GM roundhouse kicks you in the face

Redesigned an old Star vs the forces of evil oc into a Goetia for helluva boss. This is Zinnia. she's a bit of a pampered birb. I have..SOME plans for her. House on a hill

I'm so glad people liked this drawing! I struggled a bit to get this one right so I thought I'd share my process for this.

Attempt 1 - The design of the house is a bit bland and unrealistic. I thought the tree came out ok but the grass in front of the house needed work. I also decided I wanted to add shadows through color instead of ink for the next attempt.

Attempt 2 - A much more interesting house but the grass still needs a bit work and I'm not happy with the new tree. Clouds are ok but uninteresting.

Attempt 3 - Improved the house a bit - rounded chimney, new roof and not as dark shadows. I also got rid of the wooden support beams sticking out of the roof. I'm working more with texture on the house this time. Improved the grass and I'm very happy with the new tree which got a lot more interesting in texture and dark/bright values.

Color - With some color I was able to divide this drawing into three areas of value - 1. The house + foreground, 2. The tree, 3. The sky. Added some simple shadows too. Lastly I created a layer with noise and a tiny splash of color as finishing touches.

That was my process drawing this house. Hope it was interesting and/or helpful!
