Forever girl with book in bar or girl spilling lamb vindaloo on an heirloom quilt. I know we can’t build anything just by sitting in the dark together, but I am so fond of you it sounds like something a person would lie about. What does it mean to be important, to make important things? Who decides? Because sometimes a sweater costs 50 cents & is Ithaca ugly, meaning with charm, like an old Victorian painted a garish yet whimsical blue. I wear it when I sit on the porch, when I listen to the bull- frog song for sunset. Three glasses of white wine brought me here, pressing fingernails into bug bites to silence the itch. When I stay inside all day, I end up sending ass selfies. I end up deep in a black & white film that just feels like watching myself live my days. Laundry & omelets & refreshing my bank account. I find it interesting & know to be embarrassed. After dark I take another bath because I can. Strange not to hear a single highway, but I swear I feel the gravel in my legs.
