Who knew naming a car could be so Emo!?
A week ago today I purchased my first new car in 12 years!!! I tweeted asking for name suggestions and people obviously suggested something relating to White Horse since she’s white...and it got me thinking.
I love my old vehicle. It still runs great but has been less reliable in the past 2 years (we had to rebuild the trans last year) so I really felt since I’m driving my girls around most of the time that it was time to let her go. After the name suggestions it got me thinking. My Jeep has carried me safely to EVERY @taylorswift show I’ve ever attended (my first tour was Speak Now). I have so many memories tied up in that car.
Which leads me to White Horse. It dawned on me that this new vehicle will be the one that carries my daughters to their first Taylor concert. It will be the one they travel to all of their sporting events, graduations, and parties in. It will be the one they ride in when I take them shopping or for ice cream when they have their first heartbreak. It will be the one that I pick them up in when they’ve had a bad day or a fight with their best friend. I think back to Taylor writing in The Best Day about how Andrea would take her out and drive and drive until she forgot about why she was sad. THIS will be that vehicle for my girls and I. In that sense it truly is a white horse. It will be the steed that I come rescue them in on their bad days. That said I’ve decided to name her Simon, in honor of this amazing white horse I had the pleasure of riding for awhile in college. He was the horse everyone wanted to ride because he was always a perfect gentleman. Sadly, he died in a barn fire back in 2003 which started from a lightening strike. I dedicate all of the wonderful and heartbreaking moments to come in this White Horse to Simon, a beautiful unicorn in heaven 💗💗💗
