Welp, her backstory is here, and I hate it. It's the usual sympathetic backstory that they've been recently doing to the villains. And its barley give any explanation as to why she has a human face. It says that she wants to strike fear into her enemies. But with THAT design in hand, that's more to attract the basement dwelling gooner fans who voted for you know what! Her original design does NOT look scary, it's just another sex appeal design that's got the racist same face syndrome in her original design.
So I decided to give her a redesign to make her more like a professional crime boss and rewrite her story to make more sense.
First, her face. God I hate her face so much. We finally got a female omnic and then decided to do a 180 and basically make this meme a reality. So I decided to fix it. The first thing that came into my mind to make her uncanny is to make her eyes more robotic. The shape of these eyes I got inspired from the logo of Aperture Science for the Portal franchise. And another feature of the eyes is that they don't have eyelids. So, if she sleeps or what not, her eyes never blink. They just stare at you even if she is not looking at you.
Then I started to give her red marking to match her horns. But while doing that, I was then reminded on these masks and makeup that Kabuki actors wear. Then it gave me an idea, about where Shion came from. But I will get to that when I get to the rewrite. Anyway, I gave her a typical omnic "mouth" and made her hairstyle almost identical to Ramattra's cause I imagine it's an option when it comes to omnic fashion.
Her clothes, I decided to make her look more professional in the clothes, so I gave her a type of business suit that Japanese people usually wear, but changed the color from white to grey cause that is one of the common colors in these types of clothing. And finally, I gave her some high heels (imagine their high heels cause I'm still trying to figure out how to draw them).
Ok, finally to her rewrite. But first, we need to understand the original version of her personality and origin story. She's a cold heartless elder with a tragic backstory. She was captured by the original elders of the Hashimoto and was tortured, but she was able to find a way to break free, kill them all and take control of the clam. I'm sorry, but 50% of that story is just a copy of Vendetta's story. Now that's what I called being lazy. An evil, sexy woman with a tragic backstory to sympathize with. Classic, old, and really cliche.
Shion doesn't really like to talk a lot, but her subjects still don't question her orders because her torture methods for any traitors are brutal and traumatizing. But if you are on her good side, she will give you enough money to avoid being caught by the authorities and/or help you gain what you always dream of. Shion has no problem of killing an enemy, if necessary, but she rather prefers them to be alive because they might have the information they need during a mission of some sort. The only person she is really nice to is her husband (I will get to him). How Shion treats Mizuki when he joined the clan is something similar to how Mother Gothel treated Rapunzel from "Tangled". Manipulative and pretending to care for Mizuki.
Shion was originally a kabuki omnic who was about to take her first play for a festival. But a day before that happened, Anubis took control of all of the omnics and started the war. Two years later, she was given sentience. She had no idea what to make of this new purpose in life, so she went into hiding in fear of being hurt. Then four weeks later, she was confronted and attacked by a group of delinquents; but was ultimately saved by a man name Genki Hashimoto (橋本元気).
He then took her to his lair where he patched her up and asked her where she came from. Shion replied that she doesn't know, but she thinks from her appearance, she was probably a kabuki actress before the crisis happened. But now she doesn't know what to do after she was awakened. Then Genki decides to help her find a purpose in this new world. He then tells a little more about himself to Shion. Genki was the son of the previous elder of the Hashimoto and was chosen to continue the business. He then taught Shion how to fight and was the one that gave her her name. Then soon for the next two and a half months, Shion and Genki start to fall in love with each other and soon dated.
Three years before they got married, the other elders were disgusted at this interspecies relationship, so they kidnapped Shion and started torturing her for four weeks. Meanwhile, Genki put up a search for his beloved Shion. Then after those four weeks, Shion was able to find the right moment to fight back; using the training that Genki taught her, she was able to escape, reunite with Genki and tell him everything. Out of anger, Genki had the other elders executed. He then hired new elders to help him run the clan, one of them is his own lover, Shion; who is basically his second-in-command of some sort. Then after the incident, they finally got married and stayed together ever since.
Shion is still traumatized from the torture that she had experience, and her personality had changed in the process. She now wants people to suffer like she did when she was kidnapped.
Over the next several years, Shion has control of the other half of the Hashimoto clan with Genki having the other half. Shion is now the most fear member of the clan.
Now I feel like this fits her more better than what the OG design and story had.
