Hi!! Welcome to my pinned :)) looks like you found my main blog.

I'm 21+, go by she/her/they/it/whatever you want, I don't care/mind. You may call me Ember, my blog is essentially just a spot for me to talk about random games, retro & modern; movies classic & modern; nostalgia, and essentially just a place for all my little random thoughts.

I might post fanfictions, random video game reviews, photography and photography edits, aesthetically pleasing edits of photos I take, random sketchbook drawings, random creative writing prompts, but mostly I'll just post random thoughts, jokes, or some of my interests.

Honest to God I thought the high science show was gonna be a funny show but nah. It straight up discredits popular "stoner" theories with actual evidence that makes sense. Like for example. Yall know this image right?

That was literally just some guy who made a mistake and over time, what he originally put there started to show over the work he tried to redo (wording is probably off here but you get it).

It's not a helicopter. It was just an artist who made a mistake and the sands of time literally eroded that particular thing because it was already kinda wonky because the artist messed up. It wasn't aliens. It wasn't some unnatural thing. It was just erosion doing what it does best: revealing what's underneath something else.

And we can talk all day long about how "humans knew how to fly and had plans for it hardy har har" but they didn't until technology advanced further than that period. Nobody was flying until flight was invented. "What about gliding toys?!" Have you ever seen a bird? I'm sure the ancient Egyptians did too.

I cannot stress this enough, if the topic of sexual assault and graphic details are going to be severely distressing for you, please do not read it. That is not something you have to do to yourself. You do not have to do penance for finding his work meaningful, previously praised it, or enjoyed interacting with him on Tumblr. This is not on you. No one needs that from you, no matter how it may feel.

If this is personally devastating, you can (and should!) take some time to process it. You don't owe the internet a hot take or force yourself to feel the right emotion. Just take a break until you find the right headspace to be in. Please take care of yourselves.

Heavy on the “you don’t have to do penance” part. You are not retroactively a bad person for having supported or enjoyed work from someone whom you did not know was a bad person, nor are you retroactively foolish for taking their carefully curated public persona at face value.

Take care of yourself and take care of others by not feeding into the idea that self-flagellation is the best way to process your feelings. Loving art and admiring an artist is normal, but the age of the internet has tricked us into thinking we have a moral obligation to know everything about said artist in order to feel connected with said art, which has in turn made us believe we’re immoral for not knowing.

Please don’t let a misplaced sense of guilt get the better of you. It’s okay if all you do is feel your feelings and then move forward.

OP is correct, it truly is extremely graphic. I am not disturbed by just about anything (including discussion of SA, usually) and it grossed me out/made me very uncomfortable. Please stay safe.

And strong agree: takings someone's kind words at face value says nothing negative about you, but that person trying to trick you in the first place says a lot about them.

Guilt over things you had no way of knowing isn't going to help anyone. If his work meant something to you (as it did to many people), don't beat yourself up over it. Just don't watch adaptations of his work, don't buy his books or anything else that supports him, and continue to support survivors of SA now and forever.

I find it so funny, in light of TikTok’s imminent American demise, that even now they aren’t considering moving to tumblr. The last two social media refugee crises (Twitter -> X and whatever happened with Reddit) prompted a wave of wide-eyed new baffled tumblr users to flood this app and yet last I heard all of the tiktokers are flooding en-masse a Chinese social media app. That is entirely in Mandarin. Instead of moving to tumblr.

Like. People are learning mandarin to join this social media site. I’m not joking. There are tutorials going around to show people who don’t speak Mandarin how to sign up for this app. They’re all talking about how they’d rather learn a new language than join instagram reels and it is not a thought in ANYONE’S mind that tumblr is also potentially an option

To be clear im not mad about this. I’d rather see a generation of people learn a new language and engage in cross cultural connections than have a wave of tiktokers flood this app but I still think this whole thing is very funny

no because that is quite literally what is happening on Red Book right now like. All of the Chinese users went “hey why are there suddenly a gazillion Americans on here?” to which the Americans went “they’re banning TikTok and we’re moving out of spite” and the Chinese were like “oh cool send us pictures of your cats and help us with English homework and we’ll send you pictures of our cats and help you learn Mandarin” and as far as I can tell everyone is having a genuinely very nice time together.

What I’ve seen looks very promising! It’s a lot of Americans telling each other to behave and not fuck this up for everyone, plus cat pictures (I think cat pictures in exchange for asylum is becoming a meme over there)

I'm gonna say something controversial:

Stop calling every pixilated farming sim a "stardew valley clone." Stardew valley is a clone of another series of games called Harvest Moon (NOW CALLED STORY OF SEASONS, if you wanna follow the actual stories and remakes).

I'm really, really tired of seeing journalists especially video game journalists who should know better call any pixilated farming simulator a stardew valley clone when in fact, Harvest Moon/SoS was here first. I would include Rune Factory too, because that really carries the fantastical aspect more than basic Harvest Moon.

Just call games what they are, farming sims. Just call it a fucking indie farming sim or HM/SoS clone, but stop acting like ConcernedApe pioneered the subject when he didn't and has never said he did. It was what his fan base that likely has never heard of Harvest Moon or their sister series Rune Factory started that those of us who grew up with Rune Factory/Harvest Moon have been repeatedly trying to tell people. There is no stardew valley clones, because it itself is a clone of another game.

Just because a game has a pixilated art style doesn't mean that it's a stardew clone. Just because a game has romance options doesn't make it a clone. Just because a game has a farming aspect and management aspect doesn't make it a clone.

Like, unless someone srsly made word for word every character copy/pasted from stardew into their game it is not a clone. None of these stardew clones come close to what Stardew Valley even actually is, I just feel like people have forgotten the true pioneers of farming simulators and man it's getting on my nerves because if I have to explain ONE MORE TIME in my life that stardew valley isn't as original as people think it is and bring to light two games these stardew players have never heard of except me I guess I'm gonna lose my whole mind man I'm so serious.

This is very long winded and for that I'm sorry but man I'm just so tired of repeating and explaining that Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons was here first and people look at you like you have three heads, have a whole phone capable of Google, and still not even understand what stardew was even inspired by. It's like talking to a bunch of stone mannequins. I'm very much over it.

I haven't played Starfield since the pre-release whatever so I decided to get gamepass again and experience Starfield anew.

I'm enjoying some of the updates thus far as well as some of the creation mods I added into my game.

I don't think I've noticed any noticeable differences yet other than I was completely able to skip over the whole thing with the Terraform beast attacking you when you're exploring kreet before you go back to your ship.

Anyway heat leeches turn into big uglies if anyone was wondering

I'm gonna buy a few Toshiden books and add some of the urban legends into my animal crossing island of Maplefall. I'm almost done with the happy home paradise DLC content, just have a good 10 or so more dlc homes to do and I'll be finished, and able to modify my Villagers homes.

I am going to scavenge the treasure islands for the remaining stuff I need when I get off work today, but while I'm at work I might just play animal crossing. That's a mood, isn't it?
