I just got home from the vet for the second time today. The drawings a little shittier than my usual art, but i had to make a requiem for my dog. Simba, at 10 years old, started to have seizures starting at 3am today. Shes had 10 more witnessed seizures since then, and is going to be monitored at the vet. Epelipsy is the worst case scenario, but still a very possible solution (she kinda has always shakes her head and flutters her eyes before she sleeps, which might have been mini episodes, but she hasn’t any problems untill today). We’ve ruled out the possibility of stress, so either its genetic or something weird that she ate. Me and my mom are still waiting for the phone call.
Update: Vet is putting her on seizure meds.We are still not sure what was making her have all of these seizures out of the blue. Says that its more likely that old age has decreased her seizure threshold significantly. The medicine should help avoid any more grand mal seizures, but she still has the possibility to have focal seizures (which can lead into a grand mal) . The good news is that she got some needed rest and is heading home this afternoon.
This is probably the last update i will do. It has been 10 days since Simba's first noticible seizure. We got a phone call from the vet- they can no longer save her. If we visited her she wouldn't even recognize us her brain is so fryed. Auburn's vet school wants to do necropsy on her and study her in case their are more dogs like her. R.I.P Simba 2007-Aug 6, 2016.
