Gilbert Baker added a 9th stripe shortly before his death, with the new stripe representing diversity. He added this stripe in reaction to the 2016 US election. Itâs unfortunately not as well known as the 8 and 6 striped versions.

So I wanna address something that I've noticed recently in fandom spheres in general (this is specifically going to the tkdb fandom bc I'm still hyperfixated on it right now)
I understand a lot of you guys may be younger and haven't interacted in fandom the way some of us older folks have. And that's fine, but I wanna explain how you can do that!
Because right now a lot of the artists and writers are feeling a little underappreciated and that means we don't really wanna work on requests or events bc they aren't getting a lot of interaction.
First, this isn't an influencer/audience relationship. We're all real people with jobs and lives outside of this, we do it for the love of the game. If you think it's weird or parasocial to try to talk to the person making the art you enjoy that's an issue. Nobody is famous, we're all being goofy ass people playing toys together. Make a comment, reach out to that author if they made your day better!
This is going to sound ridiculous but use youtuber logic: like, comment, subscribe follow! Because chances are with how small our fandom is that your comment is going to be seen and possibly inspire someone to keep going!
Likes are nice, but reblogs are better. If you aren't sure if you want it on your main blog that's fine. You think this is my main? Most of us are on side blogs. Make a little side blog for stuff you enjoy. Tag it so you can find it again. Use the character names or pairings or whatever you want. That's a way to bookmark the work you reblogged so you can find it easily.
Not sure what to really say to someone? If you've never interacted before just be polite but casual. It's a lot like making new friends irl but we have a level of anonymity that is comfortable here. Just don't demand things or try to befriend someone just because you want them to write or draw for you. You won't always hit it off with everyone but just be genuine and kind. You might make friends or just become acquainted, like someone you say hey to when they pass by but aren't close to.
As far as the etiquette of tagging and commenting goes-
Commenting is the reply feature. It goes in a separate thing attached to the work you're commenting on, and it has a larger character limit than the tags. Anyone can reply to you there so it's always good to @ who you're addressing.
Tags you add to the post when you reblog it. They aren't an actual edition to the post. But this is where you can add your keywords for searching for it later. When reblogging there's a feature to include some of the previous person's tags. If you do < or <- at the start of your tag that's indicating that you're referring to what that tag is talking about.
Both of these places are great places to talk about what you like about the work! They are public though so keep that in mind. If you want to talk just to the artist then use messages. Seriously don't be afraid to just start a message to someone it's just like going up and starting a conversation with a person.
But Pom, what do I say? I'm so glad you asked. For me, and a lot of the artists I've seen discuss this, it's not the quality of the message that's important. You can literally just say that character is so cute! Or, this is my favorite line! †And that makes me happy! You can literally just use emojis and keysmashes -> (ajshhdjskakfhakskhf) and I'll get that you enjoyed it lol.
If you're unsure you can look at what other people have added! Some of us go off in our reblogs about how much we love it or how that lighting is incredible or the prose is insanely beautiful! You don't have to match that. Just acknowledging that you enjoyed it is good. Say something about how you hope the next piece is gonna be just as good! Or thank the author for the food lmao.
There's a lot of ways to interact with the artists in fandom. I personally reached out and interacted with one of my favorite ones here on Tumblr and now we message daily and have best friend ocs!
Tldr: If you want content to consume <- nah let's call it what it is. If you want art to enjoy and fic to read, interact with the artists and authors. Show some love with reblogs and comments. It makes us feel like we did a good job and gives us the energy to continue! Lurking is a choice and I for one am so glad I stopped watching people play and started playing with every one. So come on! We're waiting on you guys to join us! Come scream with us about blorbos and crazy theories! â€đâ€đ
SUMMARY: subaru brings the bus anomaly some lunch.

The toasted bread was still warm in the wrapper as Subaru makes his way to the parking lot. His eyes cast over the rows and rows of anomalous transportation, appraising each one as he goes by. Each one of them is special in their own right, and has their own classification. He's memorized them all.
The scent of barbecue wafts through the air, stirring awake some of the winged bicycles, their bells twitching and dinging with interest. It takes four seconds for him to be swarmed by rouge bicycles, their handlebars tilting curiously.
âAh...Iâm so sorry,â Subaru bows, apologizing, âIâll bring you some next time too, alright?â
The bicycles seem placated, their rapid dinging fading into a soft symphony of chimes as they return to their spots.
They're so kind.
Smiling softly to himself, cheeks pink, Subaru continues down the rows. The transportation gets bigger and bigger as he goes onâ from bicycles to motorbikes to cars to vansâand he finally reaches the bus.
DW00-42 sits at the very end of the row, its legs tucked underneath it. Subaru quickens his pace, eyes brighter than theyâve been in a long time.
âAaaAaAaAa?â the bus perks up at the smell, just like the other anomalies before it.
âAh...Hello! Iâm so sorry to disturb you...â he shifts in place, a little ways away from the bus, âI wanted to thank you for the transportation to Camp Darkwick. Iâm so sorry if I intruded!â
The bus opens its mouth, tongue hanging free past its lips. Subaru looks on in wonder, captivated by its mannerisms. The tongue flicks once, twice, and it stands up on all four legs instantaneously.
âYou smell with your tongue...?â he murmurs to himself, gaze full of wonder.
âAAaAaAaaAAa!!!â the bus demands, closing the distance between it and Subaru in three quick strides.
âHere! Itâs one of the barbeque sandwiches I was planning on feeding Bonnie, but Sho came back earlier than we thought he would...I had extra,â Subaru explains, extending the sandwich towards its waiting mouth, âIâm sorry if it doesnât taste good...â
The Anomalous busâs mouth closes around his hand, the tongue sweeping the entire sandwich and wrapper into its mouth. Subaru gasps at the rough feeling on its tongue, similar to a catâs tongue.
The bus pulls away and Subaruâs right hand is gloveless.
For once, he doesnât really care.
He laughs softly, cheeks pink as the bus bends its knees once, twice, flashing its lights at him three times before lumbering back to its parking spot.
âY...Youâre welcome!â Subaru calls, gloved and ungloved hand clasped in front of him, âI hope youâll allow me to visit you again!â
So after calming down I figured I'd make a tier list on how I think the TKDB characters would deal with an autistic meltdown. I'll explain why I have certain characters in certain places below the cut. But other than that enjoy my very self indulgent headcanons.
Yuri is in the "Rough time for everyone involved" tier instead of the "Help you afterwards with anything you need" or "probably caused the meltdown TBH" for 2 reasons.
1. Despite being a doctor I don't think he's naturally suited to deal with something like that. He's not exactly the calmest person around. He often Yells and demeans those around him. Which wouldn't help the situation at all.
2. I also personally feel he'd be very solution oriented towards the situation. I feel he'd try calming the person down as quickly as possible. But the issue is focusing more on the speed than the actual issue at hand may inadvertently make it take longer for them to calm down.
Professor Dante and Benkei are in the "Rough time for everyone involved" tier because I think they'd have gotten a Quick Teacher PSA Training Briefing on Autistic People. But it was one of those things where they were basically just told "Hey! Autistic People exist. Here's the bare minimum on them. Good Luck!". But they actually took the time to actually look into it more because they wanted more details and/or information on it because they Low-key kinda care about the students.
The reason Ren, Subaru, Haru, and Professor Moby are in the "Panics / Accidentally makes it worse Tier is because:
Ren: I believe that in private he would be in the "knows it's outside of his wheelhouse but would get someone who can help" tier but my idea as to his reaction to it happening in public put him in the tier he's in.
I personally believe he would end up freezing up before he tries to do something to help. He hates attention and you're unintentionally making a scene so everyone in the surrounding area is looking at you both. He's panicking internally, because he has no idea what to do in this situation. So when he actually tries to do something to help he ends up making it worse on pure accident.
Subaru : Would realize it's outside of his wheelhouse but would panic because it's outside of his wheelhouse. And wouldn't end up helping you much because he's too busy panicking and catastrophizing over it. Would then feel really guilty about it because He Wanted to Help you so badly but didn't do anything to Actually help you.
Haru: Like Ren, I personally feel he has No idea what he's doing when it comes to it. He'd try to be helpful and supportive but because he's clueless he would end up putting a hand on your shoulder or patting your back in an attempt to be helpful. Which would accidentally make it worse. To which he would then realize this is outside of his wheelhouse and isn't something he can fix and so he'd quickly get someone else using his stigma. But he'd end up leaving you alone in the panic of "Oh Fuck, this is gonna need someone else".
Moby: I believe he would panic because he either forgot his Quick Teacher PSA Training Briefing on Autistic People, or it didn't go deep enough into meltdowns and he panics because he has no idea what to actually do. Because Like I said before It was likely one of those things where they were basically just told "Hey! Autistic People exist. Here's the bare minimum on them. Good Luck!".
