we are in 2020Ā
The way the quality just abruptly downgrades with an unreadable yet absurd expression on their face really sells this

Withholding labor is a STRIKE.
Refusing to purchase is a BOYCOTT.
Professional athletes and teams are refusing to play [work]. They are STRIKING for an end to racial injustice and police brutality.
Words matter.
i hope this email finds you a broken husk of a man
So that explains why I found this...
Turns out this has nothing to do with the plague, itās even weirder than that - during the Renaissance, Florence didnāt collect any taxes on wine producedĀ āfor the familyā. So obviously some of the cityās richest men decided theyād start selling their wines directly from their own homes instead of selling it through restaurants, thus making a lot more money (no taxes and no middle man). Wine could be bought by the bottle or by the glass, and the fact the customers didnāt set foot inside the house probably a) prevented theft and b) preserved the illusion that the place was not a place of trade.
Occasionally, alms for also left in there.
TheseĀ ābuchette del vinoā (literally ālittle wine holesā) are a typical Florentine phenomenon and had been in use until fairly recently; over the last decade people have started restorating and reopening them. There are about 170 of them around Florence. Here are a few ones:
not weird. in Italy, the reason is ALWAYS tax evasion
Because DreamWorks was concerned about theological accuracy, Jeffrey Katzenberg (former Disney chairman) decided to call in Biblical scholars, Christian, Jewish, and Muslim theologians, and Arab American leaders to help his film be more accurate and faithful to the original story. After previewing the developing film, all these leaders noted that the studio executives listened and responded to their ideas, and praised the studio for reaching out for comment from outside sources.
The animation team for The Prince of EgyptĀ included 350 artists from 34 different nations. Careful consideration was given to depicting the ethnicities of the ancient Egyptians, Hebrews, and Nubians properly.
Both character design and art direction worked to set a definite distinction between the symmetrical, more angular look of the Egyptians versus the more organic, natural look of the Hebrews and their related environments. The backgrounds department, headed by supervisors Paul Lasaine and Ron Lukas, oversaw a team of artists who were responsible for painting the sets/backdrops from the layouts. Within the film, approximately 934 hand-painted backgrounds were created.

itās crazy cause stuff like this cost money to build and install⦠put the money towards fixing the actual issue
This is wildly unjust and disgusting. If you see these in your community, please say something. Speak to your local organizers and get involved in whatever capacity youāre able.
This level of policing property is toxic. Itās anti-human.
a lot of things like this are also designed to be āartsyā. if you see weird abstract chairs or futuristic styles of subway benches or statues / boulders in little alcoves, a lot of it is intentional to keep people from being able to sit comfortably or lay down in that space. ex:
Note the adhoc striping on the boulder and note that lgbtq teens have some of the highest rates of homelessness
And can we also talk about how those benches loose more and more of their function to everyone else, too, the more they are designed to be uncomfortable to the homeless? Stuff like having the seating at uncomfortable angles often also makes them intolerable as a resting spot to people who just wanna sit down for a few minutes.
Cities will rather have everyone be uncomfortable than god forbid someone sleep where they could be a nuisance to them.
