I enjoy all things documentary. More specifically, conspiracy theories. I’m currently watching this new series on Netflix about the girl from Canada who died at the Cecil Hotel, Elisa Lam. Interesting piece of detail, she had a Tumblr, and of course I had to look it up. I’m surprised the account is still active. Like duh.. no one is around to delete it, but idk why I thought that after all this time it would be deleted. Her blog is kinda artsy with the occasional vent post, nothing out of the ordinary. The most creative thing about this discovery is, the researchers are using the contents of her Tumblr page to determine her mental state and learn who she was as a person. She documented almost everything about her life and her struggle with bipolar disorder. Unfortunately, on the other end of this discovery, it lead them to believe that her dying was an accident because she was going through a alleged psychotic episode. When she was on that elevator, she looked terrified; like she was hiding from someone or someone was following her. When looking at the case initially, I could definitely see how it easily could look like she was having an episode which lead her to take her own life, but the details of how she died aren’t adding up completely. If she was having a psychotic episode, why would she take the time to go up on the roof to the water tower specifically, open it, climb in and take her clothes off and drown? How would she get the door of the water tower closed if she was already in it? Why would she not just jump off the roof? Why are there there conflicting stories about how they found the door of the water tower? Why did they edit the elevator footage? Like it’s so many questions about this case and they just chalked it up to her disorder and closed the case. I honestly do feel like there is more to the story than they are willing to share or investigate. But I guess that’s the fun in picking apart different theories. There are so many different possibilities.
