art blog announcement: officially stopping scheduled posts
hello to all my followers on here! thanks for sticking around so long. you may have realized that as of the last few months, the blog has been largely dominated by automatic IFTTT posts from instagram, my new facebook art page, and I think that’s it? (I do want to actually put my ko-fi posts on here as well.)
The reason? Engagement, mainly. I’ve run this blog for 6 years, give or take, and for a long time it acted as my art website. But since I made a real portfolio, the need/use of this blog has fallen sharply- in large part because posting here never seems to garner much engagement at all. The most popular post was fanart of a youtuber I have long since unsubscribed from, and my inktober posts, because I put a superhuman amount of effort into making and posting everywhere at the right time every day of the challenge. And that engagement, at its highest, is no more than 50 notes- mainly likes, and 1 or 2 reblogs (ok i just checked- 89 on one that was fanart; 59 on an og piece. that may be the most notes on an og piece i have, and it’s fish). So it seems like a waste of time and energy to do that, AND post new content twice a week.
Just to clarify- I still plan on posting here, for challenges, from other social media, for new work, etc. I will still keep this blog updated and full of the right info. But I will not be posting new content here on a schedule as I was. I have moved mainly to Instagram, my professional portfolio, and Ko-fi, and hopefully soon I can resuscitate my Patreon. 👀 You can also follow me @queer-vjestica because I still reblog there every so often!
