have u seen anything so pure in your life
I ended up in a little trance watching this..
Riding an endorphin high after working out right now and decided to update le blog. So, recently I've been having trouble with anxiety. It's not the first time, I've had problems with anxiety since I was about sixteen. It seems to move in a cycle where the anxiety creeps back in, to the point where I end up feeling tired and kind of worn out by it and then become depressed. I'm not sure exactly what causes it, but I know there are ways to manage it and if I use these ways to stay on top of it then maybe I could live stress and depression free, relatively speaking of course because there are going to be times in everyone's lives when they feel stressed or depressed for one reason or another.
One of the things I can do to manage it is exercising regularly, in fact it's one of the best ways to manage it, so much so that it's usually one of the first things a doctor, counsellor or therapist will suggest to someone with anxiety and/or depression issues. Also, even though I'm only somewhere between eight and a half and nine stone (I haven't weighed myself in a while so I'm not exactly sure about that) so I'm not overweight, I am really unfit. Really badly actually. To the point where most of the time I get a stitch and/or out of breath from just walking up the stairs too fast. Yes, walking too fast, not even running up the stairs. So for both these reasons, I've recently decided I need to improve my diet and start exercising.
My parents also share this goal with me, so a few days ago they went out and bought a cross trainer. I've used a cross trainer before during cardio sessions in high school P.E. lessons, so I already knew just how great they are for exercising. It's a full on work out using them and they get your heart racing, but at the same time they don't tire you out too much.
So, this evening I've started something that is hopefully going to become a daily habit. One of my favourite quotes is 'If you're trying to fit something into your life and it's not working, then try fitting that something around your life instead'. I love this quote because if I'm really honest, I'm not great at being disciplined and when I try to be I usually end up quitting. But as I planned to work out tonight, this quote popped into my mind and I thought about how I could make it more likely that I'll keep this new habit up.
So.. tonight I worked out whilst watching an episode of Buffy! I found that it stopped me getting bored and helped me time my workout too. Also, what with all the fight scenes, seeing Buffy training and Sarah Michelle Gellar's rocking bod, it seems to make for great 'fitspiration'.
Anyway, that's my update for the moment, hope you're all doing well. I’ll leave you with a picture of me mid-workout in our spare room that has now become our mini gym. I took it to commemorate the beginning of me not being too lazy to work out any more. Finger’s crossed that it lasts!
Finally got around to watching Afflicted (via Netflix Streaming). Haven't jumped or held my breath at a movie that much for a long while, not to mention it was visually beautiful (apart from the scene with the pig... I won't spoil but.. ew). Now for something more relaxing and a lot less 'Holy crap! Run ya bugger!'.
A really overdue update:
Hello! Hej! Howdy! and apologies for being away for so long. Well, I have been around, reblogging and liking this and that but in terms of writing posts or articles I've been absent for quite a while.
So, not looking for a pity party here, but things have kind of been shit for me lately. I'm aware it could be so, so much worse but a handful of shitty but not all that life changing things happening all at once can really feel overwhelming. I won't go into details though because as I've said, this post really isn't about getting pity or having a whinge or anything close to that.
So, what am I up to today? At the moment it's about 11am (not sure if I'll post this straight away or queue), I'm sat in my kitchen, watching The Office (US) and planning to have a big writing sesh, not just blog posts but also getting back into the habit of story writing. I'm also waiting to hear news about my niece who's having an operation this morning. That may not sound like something to worry about but she's three years old, so neither me, my mum or my sister got more than a collective few hours sleep last night. EDIT- I just heard from my mum, my niece is home from the hospital and as predicted she's being her usual tough cookie self and apart from a little wooziness is completely fine. Yay!
So this was just a short update to let you guys know I'm okay and I'll be getting back to this blog now. As per my original mission statement, the blog will be about story in all it's forms and mediums and about my efforts to become a professional author.

Beautiful, and also true now that I think about it. After I've sobbed my heart out over something, I do usually feel more alive.

Feeling a combination of bored and ill today after developing weird issues with my sinuses that's giving me headaches, earaches and strangely toothaches (?!). Decided to mix it up a bit by playing xbox whilst listening to soundtracks from other games via YouTube. First up is playing GTA5 whilst listening to the Silent Hill Downpour soundtrack. This shit just got real. Real creepy, atmospheric and ethereal that is

Realising that I should treat myself with more compassion and care.
We hear the saying 'Treat others as you would wish to be treated' a lot. However, my issue is that I have no problem treating others well (unfortunately, sometimes even when they don't deserve it), but I've recently realised that I don't really know how to treat myself with the same kindness and compassion. I've also recently realised that I'm definitely not the only one.
If you, like me, are too hard on yourself and find it easy to reel off ten things you don't like about yourself or mistakes you've made, but find it hard to list even three positive things about yourself, then I want you to have a think about this for a moment.
