This week on Roll Dice and Cry: Are you on our side?
The village of Low Tide is abuzz. Kobolds jump from boat to boat, sharing the news even as it becomes more and more evident to every citizen:
There is something happening in the chapel.
The mighty riverboat that holds Low Tide’s congregation each worship is rocking as if in a wild storm on the high sea, and it takes the combined might of the strongest of Low Tide’s citizens to lash it to the nearby trees and quell its wild motion enough to board it. There, in the chaos of strewn pews and spilled offering jars, the source is obvious.
A clay statue, molded by the town’s pride and joy to replace one mysteriously broken. It is shaped in the visage of the kobold’s interpretation of Old Chained Tzela, with an accuracy borne of earnestness and love more than actual skill. The kobolds of Low Tide love it all the more for its flaws, exemplifying the best aspects of their community: love without shame, expression without restraint, effort without reluctance.
The crude idol floats above the chapel altar, bolts of divine electricity arcing off of it.
And every kobold who beholds it, in the back of their head, hears the words of defiance whispered over steady, thumping drums.
Chained beneath the deep.
But we will rise again.

This week on Roll Dice and Cry: The most important thing is to continue.
Anthony Argent sits haphazardly on a chaise lounge, its feet scuffed and slightly crooked from where he painstaking dragged it down into the caverns beneath the castle. Down here, he has not heard the impact that rocked the upper levels mere minutes ago. Here, in his secret chamber of reflection, the only sound is the music he makes.
He ceases playing, for a moment, to touch the scars on the side of his head. All these years later and he still winces as he runs his fingers across them. He had been distraught back then, forced to shave his head to avoid infection. Of course, the youth of Behren immediately shaved the sides of their own heads in response. A fashion trend, or solidarity perhaps, but at the time he had believed them mocking him and shut himself away in the castle.
The scars had faded in the intervening years, diminished from their ugly red lines to soft and subtle white ridges, and he’d kept the haircut. Perhaps the time to heal the interpersonal scars had come, as well. It had been a shock, seeing the figure of his nightmares in stark daylight, but Linnae was a man, not a monster. Right? Even if the sight of him caused Anthony’s knees to buckle and mouth to run dry, he owed it to his new matriarch to do his best to play nice.
Right?
Unable to find answers in the moment, Anthony simply continues to play.

HER WOND’ROUS GAZE
Author Unknown
Her wond’rous gaze, it dances on the sea,
Kaleidoscopic, shimmering and bright.
Chevaliers rejoice on bended knee,
Basking in the kindness of her sight.
With armor gleaming, riders of the dawn
Come thund’ring down the valleys of the sky
Their lord and ladies proudly cheer them on
A-rallied by their holy battle cry!
“To arms!” they cry, and leap into the fight,
“Our lives to keep the world from going still!”
And all the while the kingdom’s anguish’d blight
Erodes the holy trinity’s goodwill.
Her wond’rous gaze, now guarded, shines above
After so long, do I still have her love?

This week on Roll Dice And Cry: How far are you willing to go?
Gala Supper Buffet Menu:
-Baked catfish fillets, seasoned with white wine, lemon juice, cilantro, butter, and garlic. -Hand-strained noodles with shrimp and red sauce. -Grilled Behrenese sausage with sauerkraut. -Fresh-baked bread(sourdough, whole wheat, Valentinan rolls). -Unrefined silicates of various families(quartz, topaz, serpentine) for Miss Fantastic and her entourage. -A suckling pig, to keep up appearances. -Diced and skewered fruit from our friends in Walden.
This is a supper, Marian, so keep the drinks easy; champagne, ciders, light ales. At the same time, don’t be stingy; make sure that any hand without a drink in it is given the option otherwise. Blitzed-out drunk does not an enjoyable party make, but neither does stone sober.
As long as conversation flows freely, we’ll have done our job well.

This week on Roll Dice and Cry: I thought everyone cried at these things.
The eyes of Amatyne the Sunturion gaze out, warm and still, from the facade carved into the highest wall of the Silverhome courtyard. The Solar Guardian, She Whose Patrol Marks Our Days has not been seen in flesh amongst the people of the Endless Sea since the end of the age of Titans, but the workers of Castle Silverhome appreciate her bright and noble eyes all the same, so similar to the eyes of their beloved Lady. As the servants, chefs, smiths, and other staff of the Argent homestead toil seemingly endlessly in the preparations for Lady von Argent’s Ascension Gala, they are invigorated by the presence of their Lady, even moreso by the fact that she toils alongside them all the same. They pay no heed to the impossibility of their goals, nor to the stresses of their work. Not with Lady to guide them.
Not with the Lady to light the way.
