overall i think the class was one of the best english classes i have ever been a part of. In the beginning i was skeptical of the podcast and how it would relate to the class and the themes it would bring up. After listening  to each episode week after week i saw how each related  I also enjoy how the book also involved the same themes as the podcast and how they seemed to intertwined with each other. The class theme of existentialism  was also very relvent i thought. IN todays english classes were not given to much room for creativity and i never felt like this during our class. I felt like i could explore every idea i had and just had to make sure it was well written and made sense. The class i would recommend to anybody with such a fantastic teacher that was helpful every time i had a problem or couldn't fix a problem all by myself.   I also enjoyed how open to discussion the class was. we seemed to see things in new ways and really inspired new ways of thinking. Each of my classmates seemed to bring something new to the table and in ways i would have not been able to see myself. EAch paper was a new experience and challenged me, to be better than good enough. At the beggining of the quarter i never thought my writing would improve by so much. i always considered myself a weak writer and loathed to write any paper. but now i find that i enjoyed this class the most out of the 4 i took . so, so long and thanks for all the fish.

lesson from wtnv

the podcast as a whole was very fun. Ever episode was a random adventure that had a lesson to it. At the beginning it wasnt as obvious what direction the podcast was going to go but by the end it turned iut to be just fine. My favorite episode had to be the ‘Story About you” it was just different than anything i have ever herd and brought something new. The last two episodes were very important plot wise and cleared a lot of the messy things up. and the live audience was a nice twist to it

tbh i was not satisfied with the ending of the book. I thought it couldve had more explosion and a super cool ending like twilight did or 50 shades of grey now that was a good book. I feel like the book was asking 2 many question like why? how? where? what kind of book makes you think like cmon i just want silly cat pictures and hilarious may-may

HHG/WTNV Response

I enjoyed reading the end of HHG because some of the parts made me laugh. For example when Ford and Zaphod clink their glasses together thinking that they were making a toast “to business” or when Benjy the mouse said that the brain could always be replaced “if you think it’s important”

I also enjoyed the podcast this week although it was a little creepy and mysterious trying to keep up with Dana. When Dana and Cecil were on the phone together their responses were off.

Q: Were Dana’s responses off because she couldn’t clearly hear what Cecil was asking/saying? or because maybe in the dimension she was in Cecil was responding differently

This weeks podcast was really good. I felt the lonely that Dana felt being alone in the dog park not knowing where you are or if you are ever going to go back to where you came from. My question is whether or not Dana is still alive or not. Or is she somewhere else not in Night vale

Compare & contrast

i would compare the idea of loss in both these mediums. When Arthur loses the earth and when Cecil “loses” carlos. Both instances you see how people react when they lose something they love. It shows the human mind when everything goes array

My username is finally relevant! 

The big answer is finally revealed: 42. When I read the novel back in middle school, I did not think much about the answer. After reading this chapter recently, I found that maybe I was right. Maybe the number is something that the author  just simply wrote. I feel that people have over analyzed the significance of the number. I believe that the author chose a random number with the purpose of confusing the readers. Author wanted the readers to think more about the number when in reality there is no meaning behind the number.

Do you think there is a purpose behind the number or no?

This weeks reading of HHG was interesting. The answer was finally reveled that 42 is the meaning of life. After this i found myself worshiping everything 42 related. if this is the clear meaning of life then we must follow the order of it.

This weeks podcast was interesting and different compared to the others we listened to in the past. Cecil would talk about the news like every other podcast, but in between of that, he would talk about his date with Carlos. He describes it as a perfect night. They visit an interesting restaurant with unusual features, such as, a doorless room. At the end Carlos even kisses Cecil. Do you think that there is a relationship between Carlos and Cecil? Is Carlos obsessed with Cecil? Do you believe this action continue throughout the remaining podcasts?

I enjoyed this weeks podcast. The parody of many situations like the library and dates. I thought the questioning of society’s norms were apparent throughout the length of the podcast.  My question is what center message were the creators trying to give with this podcast?

Question

Lyu’s quotation  about Dobbins supports his claim that the stocking is his attachment object.  His quote shows how much Dobbins treasures the object and how it makes him feel safe. The quote also compares Dobbins to an infant which further strengthens his claim that Dobbins is exhibiting  the attachment condition that is commonly found in infants. The quote also serves as strong evidence and doesn't interrupt the flow of the paper.

Halfway through the year i can feel my writing improving I am not a strong writer by far, but i am slowly becoming a halfway decent one. The class is fun and lets my creative side roam free something that none of my English classes has let me done before.  I feel that if i was in any other class my writing wouldn't be as strong and it wouldn't be as fun to do. I hope that the last 5 weeks are as joyful as the first

This weeks reading was nothing to earth shattering. It was surprising to find that Ford semi cousin is Zaphod. You can start to see how everybody srory starts to intertwine. My question is what is the fairy tale a reference too?

HHG Response

Chapter’s 13-16 were really good. I found that the chapters were quite coincidental. Perhaps that is a theme. I was not expecting Arthur to say that he had already met Zaphod back at a party on Earth. I found that pretty surprising and funny. I also liked how the Improbability drive was mentioned again. I also really liked the excerpt from the HHG which talked about Magrathea. I felt like the descriptions of the planet highly resemble the characteristics and people of Earth.

Why was Zaphod at a party on planet Earth?

I was also surprised to see that Arthur knew Zaphod and Trillian and was also wondering what Zaphod would be doing at a party on Earth. I would think he would have better and more important things to do.
