This is a painted backdrop I found from backdropsbeautiful.com. I find small bridges like this oddly romantic and I felt drawn to this painted image.

Marina Abramovic focuses on performance arts and revolutionized performance art in the mid-late 20th century. Her pieces were meant to test the physical and mental limits of the human body and to see the transformation that comes of such strain.

This picture is from 2001: A Space Odyssey. I like the lines in this picture and the colors used.

I sort of cheated and uploaded a gif...This is from one of my favorite TV series of all time, Legend of Korra. This gif really shows fantastic use of color and texture with the lava/magma (lavabending). It’s immediately clear what it is as it rushes towards the foreground.

This picture is of a Hidden Mickey at Disneyland. I like how well the image is hidden—the greenery distracts from the hidden image.

This is a picture my friend took of my other friend for a publicity photo shoot for our high school's production of The Seagull. I like how her arm and dress create a strong line that reaches into the sky.

I love the infinite nature of this picture. Someone put a camera and a candle inside a box of mirrors and this is the result.

I like the perspective through the book to the lapis lazuli behind it. The cork board provides a strong base to the photo while still remaining out of focus

I like how tiny the rock is compared to the mirror and the post-it notes show how large the mirror is in comparison.

Week 1 Image Journal

My three images were a tiny painting of Aphrodite, Greek goddess of love and beauty; a small scallop shell; and a piece of clear quartz. I took two angles because I love the way the light hits the quartz in the second shot. In terms of context I like the inclusion of the scallop since it is thematically tied to Aphrodite as well as the shadow covering the left side of it. The quartz acts as a sort of prism and filters light in an interesting way. The painting offers a splash of color and centers the arrangement.
