▵ — Doe grinned at Emme when she said maybe a little, knowing that in Emme language, that meant actually a lot. She lifted herself off of Abraxas, wanting very badly to punch him in the stomach on her way up, but settled on using his head as a balancer instead. When she propped up her foot on Abraxas’ chest in a stance of victory, feeling oddly proud, in that moment, considering it was quickly becoming a rather common occurrence. “ If Grant is as Grant does, he’s probably off getting his arse kicked somewhere. Twenty galleons says that Sirius is with him, too, ” Doe teased, and then remembered what had happened earlier that night, and what she had yet to explain.
She cleared her throat, taking her boot off of Abraxas’ chest and looking slightly sheepish as she prepared herself to talk.
“ You know, speaking of luck… ” she started, trailing off, wondering how she was going to admit to doing something so stupid, even if it did have a good end. “ I may or may not have ended up at this pub. I mean, it was a small thing, honestly, and a muggle one! And, you see, it was after the shit show earlier, and I was freaking out, and all I wanted was some bad wine so I ended up there and - anyway, Georgie found me, and she gave me this. ” She reached inside the pouch she kept strapped to her hip, an undetectable extension charm on the inside that was usually hardly necessary until they started traveling around and she stored their major belongings in it.
Doe wrapped her hand around the familiar bag and yanked it out of the opening, handing it over to Emmeline with a cheeky smile. “ Also, she may know someone who’s here to find Grant. A lady someone. ”
⎯ ✴︎ Emme couldn’t help but laugh lightly when Doe positioned herself in a victory stance over Abraxas. It was just easier in times like these to find points where they could do something silly. It was just really easy to remember that even with the small fun now, things could so south at any time. “I wouldn’t be surprised. They always find each other.” It was like they had some sort of homing beacon or a distress signal. You’d think they were twins separated at birth like a part of some sort of experiment, but Grant was nearly twice Sirius’s age even if he didn’t act like it.
She caught the look on Doe’s face and she didn’t like it. It always admit she was going to admit to something she didn’t quite approve of and that she knew of that fact. “Well, if Georgie found you than that means they were talking about us in the Ministry and you’re both lucky not to be killed,” she said before she bit her lip a little and shook her head. She wouldn’t say any more on it. They were safe and that’s all that mattered. “But I’m glad you weren’t, so I’m not going to allow myself to be mad.”
She glanced down and away for a moment before she looked back at her as she pulled out a bag. She took it from her and opened it to look inside and her face lit up. “You’re joking. With all of this we’ll be good for a week... maybe longer if we can stretch the food. And with the money, it could be even better. I could kiss her.” Then Doe mentioned a lady someone and it was enough to distract her from the bag to get more information about her. “What kind of lady someone? Someone who he may have known... well?”
