Alfred and Bruce watched Jason go.
“It was indeed a good chat, Master Bruce, I’m quite proud of you.”
“How much of it did you hear?”
“Oh, about all of it, sir. Off to bed with you as well. You don’t have meetings tomorrow and you might as well use the opportunity to actually sleep. Trust me when I say I will be strictly enforcing the bedrest rule for Mister Clark before your meeting tomorrow night, as well.”
“He’s healing well, Alfred.”
“And I want him to continue to do so. Check on him on your way up, if you would be so good, Master Bruce, and if he’s on his laptop, tattle like a good boy.”
Bruce grimaced. “I will not tattle on him, I’ll make sure he’s in bed.”
“I hope you mean in bed asleep, sir,” Alfred said.
“I don’t like what you’re implying.”
“I’m quite sure you would like what I’m implying, sir.”
Bruce trudged up the stairs, Alfred a step behind. “I could swear you used to respect me.”
“Oh yes, sir, but that was before you dressed up as a flying mammal every night and forwent sleep, sustenance, and common sense.”
