it’s becoming impossible to read anything that’s actually reader insert in the asoiaf fandom because almost every post is just ocs.

like seriously, what’s the point of the reader insert tag if the reader isn’t even inserted? a tag meant for readers where readers aren’t included, give me a break. and on ao3 it’s getting even worse.

you have HUNDREDS of tags to use, and you choose the one that’s meant to insert and include as many readers as possible so they can feel represented.

You know I've heard the argument that people are being a lot harsher on Wuthering Heights when it comes to changes in adaptation than they were on Frankenstein, and I get where people are coming from, but here's the thing.

You can change quite a lot of Frankenstein and still have it be recognizable as Frankenstein because well... Frankenstein's monster is there.

But when it comes to Wuthering Heights, if you change a lot of things from the original novel... well you are simply not making Wuthering Heights anymore. You are making another middling gothic romance, a concept so trite that Jane Austen was satirizing it forty years before Wuthering Heights was even written.

So you see they are simply not the same.

He essentially did a patriarchal reading of Frankenstein, and it would hold water as an academic literary analysis from a specific thematic viewpoint.

Wuthering Heights disregards the majority of the source material and shifts its focus onto more melodramatic romantic tropes that weren't present in original book, even if they might have their own merits elsewhere.
