the beautiful game...
Sand pipers running very quickly together as it is their typical behavior. They stick together because they are small but together they are a swarm and swarms can be speedy; it is their greatest trait apart from their uncanny ability to find treats in the sands

I just read your latest Dottie and Stripes comic (which was absolutely amazing!!!)
I'm very curious about the Penguins living in Stripe's backyard!
Have Inklings domesticated penguins the same way humans domesticated chickens?
thank you so much i'm happy you enjoyed!! but yes omg!! the bandsons keep a penguin coop in their backyard for eggs (they have a little pool they can swim in also they can waddle to the ocean if they want). basically it's just my way of incorporating my favorite animal into my darling squiddies' lives hehehe
most of the flock are magellanic (the most striped penguin, of course) but mrs bandson also has a pair of show emperors (in the sense of a dog or cat show), again just bc i like them <3 such pretty birds <333 (also happened to doodle her in such a scenario last week!)
You thought this was a rabbit? They thought this was a rabbit. That's fucking funny bitch, this is fucking Winnie the fucking Pooh. Yeah. Yeah. Fuck 4th of July

so if dottie and stripes go up a āschoolā each game (ie kids in 1, tweens in 2, highschool in 3) are they going to be college aged in raiders? if so Thatās Scary but also hype
i've always played it really loose and just go off vibes bc its just fun to put them in what ever situation i feel like haha, but yeah since i myself have been out of school so long at this point i'm probably past that and just have them out in the world or whatevs... but y'all know i jump around in their lives bc it's fun to play toys with ur ocs ^___^
dottie was never a great student so she certainly would NAWT pursue higher education PFFT she's not artistic, but obviously uses a big paint brush for fun, so working for house painters would probably be somewhat therapeutic for her. and stripes is helping out with his parents' farmer's market stand while he figures himself out <33333
yes ugh being out in the workforce is scary š± but don't worry, everything is okay bc they get to be in love now <333 š

iām tired of babying grown women who let beauty standards control their entire life. stand up, grow up & get over yourself. enough. you arenāt perpetual victims. exercise the autonomy you refuse to acknowledge you have. you can choose to stop this circus anytime. grown ass fucking women acting like helpless victims to the patriarchy and then in the next breath going āCOME WITH ME TO MY BOTOX APPOINTMENTšā you are traitors and we will never make it out of the patriarchy if personal responsibility canāt be taken
like god fucking damn women for centuries fought to have financial and social independence, and we largely achieved that in most countries, just for modern women who have no idea what patriarchy used to do to us to turn around and go āiām not the problem, blame men for saying i look prettier after a nose jobā you have everything your foremothers hoped and dreamed for, all that autonomy won through blood and sweat, and you waste it offering your body up to the patriarchy because āsocial pressureā get the fuck over yourself and stop acting like you have no choice. absolutely pathetic
and whenever people criticize women who get cosmetic procedures done and who enslave themselves to beauty standards itās always met with āitās not their fault, itās the patriarchyā and i find that to be such a circular, never ending blame game. yes fucking obviously itās the true fault of the patriarchy but you canāt hold a system of social hierarchy accountable because the decisions individuals make constitute said system. and turning it into a chicken or the egg debate does nothing besides shift blame to something that cannot be reckoned with or addressed. stop blaming the patriarchy at large for the individual decisions of fully autonomous women
āThe LEGO Movie was my favorite movie of 2014, but it strikes me that the main character was male, because I feel like in our current culture, he HAD to be. The whole point of Emmett is that heās the most boring average person in the world. Itās impossible to imagine a female character playing that role, because according to our pop culture, if sheās female sheās already SOMEthing, because sheās not male. The baseline is male. The average person is male. You can see this all over but itās weirdly prevalent in childrenās entertainment. Why are almost all of the muppets dudes, except for Miss Piggy, whoās a parody of femininity? Why do all of the Despicable Me minions, genderless blobs, have boy names? I love the story (which I read on Wikipedia) that when the director of The Brave Little Toaster cast a woman to play the toaster, one of the guys on the crew was so mad he stormed out of the room. Because he thought the toaster was a man. A TOASTER. The character is a toaster. I try to think about that when writing new charactersā is there anything inherently gendered about what this character is doing? Or is it a toaster?ā
ā Bojack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg commenting on how weird gendered defaults in entertainment are, and why we should think twice about them. Excerpted from this longer original post. (via 360degreesasthecrowflies)
