#m really depressed today so idk how much ill get done but................#if u guys wanna throw some easy asks for me to answer ill try to get to those #i. ooc | mun talk.

"hey, aki," shinji said, wiping his hands on his apron. the other sees members were out, so shinji wasn't concerned about letting this part of himself show. "c'mere for a minute." spread out on the kitchen table were several different delicious looking dishes; all akihiko's favorites. it's entirely possible he's gone a bit overboard, but it's for aki, so it's fine. "i wanted to do something since it's...y'know. happy birthday, aki."

he hadn’t really paid attention to the day ; a card and a gift from mitsuru in the morning, a promise from the others that they’d stop and get something to eat together later that day, and they had left akihiko to his devices. there was something strange about birthdays -- maybe it’s his childhood that makes him linger less on them than a normal person might, but whatever the reason might be, there were things more important to do.

shinjiro’s voice barely breaks his attention from the homework spread across the table in front of him, though it does stop akihiko from drumming his pen in a erratic rhythm as he tried to sort out his thought process. shinji has to speak up a second time and break out an age old nickname to actually get his attention.

( he can’t help a wince at the way shinji wipes his hands on the apron. he understands that’s what it’s for in the end, but still. it means it’ll have to be washed and doing that without getting questions is awkward. )

“ i told you not to go overboard, y’know. ” as soon as shinji tips his head in a ‘come here’ motion, akihiko can guess what he has to expect. the spread of his favorites does make his mouth water a little, even despite his scolding. “ you do this all the time. ”

that’s an exaggeration, mostly because it’s been a while since they both managed to be around each other during his birthday.

“ -- thanks, shinji. i really appreciate it, y’know? . . .we should probably clean up before the others get back though. they can help us eat this, it’s definitely too much for just us two. ”

shinjiro didn’t wax poetic for no reason, particularly when there wasn’t anything happening at the moment. akihiko fidgets in his own way, wrapping and unwrapping his hands almost idly, the way he did when he contemplated going to practice or not. it’s really just sitting around with shinji that stops him from going.
