They have defied the law for more than a year and now is the time to advance and subdue them." Sun Jian had the style name Wentai and was a man from Fuchun in Wujun. Most scholars believe he was a descendant of Sun Wu. In his youth, he had been a civil officer and, at theage of seventeen, he subdued the pirate Hu Yu. His father was shocked at his abilities and Sun Jian was made Major of the Commandery. Part of the 3 Kingdoms Project.

The heretic rebel Xu Chang rose at Juzhang and named himself emperor. With his son Xu Shao he stirred up various prefectures, and his followers numbered in the tens of thousands. Sun Jian, as the Major of the commandery, recruited the elite and prefectures of the province. That year was the first year of Xiping. The inspector Zang Min commended him and an Imperial Edict appointed Sun Jian assistant prefect of Yandu. Some years later, he was promoted to be Assistant Prefect of Xuyi and he was reassigned again to be Assistant Prefect of Xiapi.

Information on the 3 Kingdoms Project and Our Muses

This Blog is part of the 3 Kingdoms Project, which is an effort to modernize "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" into a fictional novel based on true events of history and their Sanguozhi biographies by Chen Shou. 

If you have any questions about this project, please don't hesitate to contact Riley Weaver, one of the authors of the novel in the making.

The Sun Family is prominent in this project, as are other major Wu Officials, such as Zhuge Ke, Lu Su, Lu Meng, Zhu Ran and Cheng Pu to name a few. 

Each of the Imperial Families written will have specific traits, such as the Sun family, Cao family, Sima family and Liu family. 

The Sun Family has the following traits known: 

Red hair is definitely a dominant trait, though it's subject to a little squiggling around depending on genetics (recessive vs dominant traits). Green eyes are prevalent in Sun Quan's kids, though less-so with his grandkids, due to the recession in the gene pool. However, Quan was the odd-one out with this recessive trait that he'd inherited from his Grandfather. His mother's genetics may have stemmed from past relations with more southern people.

Most of the Sun family are very tall and tend to be broad-shouldered and strong. Their women are agile in their build.
