Bad awful no good comics based on the horrible place that is my brain
the comics i make will just be whatever im into or what im thinking of alot, so dont expect consistency
So I went down a bit of a rabbit hole trying to find you something on Linux to replace Paint/Paint.NET and after far too much hunting I can confirm that PixiEditor will, in Pixel Art mode, let you enter text with no smoothing. Just hard black edges. Fully compatible with MS Gothic (though you need to install that separately which isn't difficult).
I have no idea why so few art programs let you produce non-smoothed text, and I checked about a dozen. If you are in Painting or Vector mode they'll be smooth, but in pixel art it's nice and sharp.
PixiEditor is available through Flathub, and also free on Steam. Just look for it in your software/package manager and it should be there.
If you run into issues feel free to give me a yell, I'm always happy to help in my spare time.
Thanks for the recommendation! i too went into a rabbithole for this, and i found some good leads helped, and well, i learnt alot
turns out, the reason why the fonts i use look the way they do is because of this thing called "bitmap strikes" where windows would change a font from vectors/anything antialiased into small bitmap fonts
mspaint and paint.NET reads these easily, but most linux distros have this disabled, after a bit of tinkering and bruteforcing i managed to get it somewhat working. horray! problem solved, except not really
pixieditor does have a pixel art mode, however all it does is render the font pixely, a bit like using a mosaic filter over a font, not really using the bitmap strikes for it, which makes it look off and sometimes unreadable. kolourpaint, despite looking exactly like mspaint, doesn't use it either too, which means unfortunately these two programs wont fit my needs
luckily, there is a program that works! yippie! turns out GIMP can render bitmap strikes perfectly, which is great! problem of course is that its GIMP and i hate using GIMP
nothing wrong with it of course, its a powerful editing software, I just can't handle its obtuse workflow as someone's whos been coddled by the hands of paint.net
so unfortunately unless i want to torture myself with GIMP i dont have much programs i can use, but the fact that i know exactly what i want for my needs would make searching much more easier. pixieditor is a pretty good art program though, i'd probably use it to make drafts or finish up some details, so thanks for recommending me that!
bit of a weird self-absorbed fantasy, but sometimes i've thought of compiling some of my umamusume comics and hiring people to dub over it as a video, but i don't have enough money to hire a lot of voice over artists for something like that
idk, maybe someday in the future when i have the monetary ability for something like that i'll do it (maybe)
Hi everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts, ive been going through stuff, basically my body doesnt have the willpower to do anything my brain wants and I haven't made anything of note at all
Maybe its burnout, idk, sometimes the moment I say that I have burnout I suddenly get the energy to actually do something and suddenly have a very productive day, but maybe it is idk
Now I dont want to take too long of a break, I know I dont get any monetary gains from my comics, but I dont want to leave y'all in the dark with nothing either, so I'll try to see what I can do today
i was actually planning to make a comic about that, but then the power for my entire housing area decided to die and i lost all progress on that one, and i just kinda gave up on it
sometimes i ask people about their school experiences and look back at mine and realize how weird it all is
what do you mean you werent shown images of dead corpses and shown extremely gory clips by your teachers in class? what do you mean they didn't bring the entire school into a hall just to berate and talk about how useless and pathetic their students are as a prank after the finals? what do you mean they didnt put a group of students aside and interrogate them for "wanting to vote for the incorrect president"?
what kind of topsy turvy world are you even living in?
Mejiro Bright's good ending is the saddest; it goes "Ultimately all your efforts to preserve your family's legacy were for naught, the old ways are doomed to fade with the passage of time and all that remains is a vain hope for the course of history to reverse."
(Meanwhile her normal ending is hilarious because of how salty Suzuka gets over Special Week spending more time with Bright.)
hello, "homo sapiens", whatever those are! im jessica, the head of the white void tourism bureau.
we heard from our void god, and noticed that there has been an increased interest for the life, animals, and enviroments of the white void!
we are very alike, you and i, we think our world and society is similar to this so called "earth" you talk about often, the only difference being that our world is pure bright white! you would need these "sun-glasses" if you want to be able to see anything in the white void!
we could talk all day long about the society and life within the white void, but that could take eons! we could even talk about us voidians in general! but from what we're able to see in your surprisingly unlit world, you seem to look and act just like us.
so we decide to put that for a different day, and show you just a sliver of the billions of fauna within the white void instead!
so what's in the white void, jessica?
well, ill tell you if you're interested!
CW: some kind of body horror
one of the first things you might see, is our ever omnipresent god, that visibly floats above us at all times, the void god itself!
the void god created us, well er... "created" us. in reality, the void god doesn't really care, it simply enjoys observing its weird creations wonder about the white void! according to historians, and the void god itself, when whatever it used to be plunged itself into the void, it became an omnipresent godlike being, and the first thing it ever created were a world, and littered down its only ever animal: a white void grazer!
land creatures
thats right, we white voidians all come from the humble white void grazer, through evolution, brute force, and of course, luck!
therefore, all the animals in this world are all strange variations of the white void grazer! the first ever one of course, being the common white void grazer, and it soon evolved either through domestication, or by selective evolution!
white void grazers are omnivorous creatures. they dont seem to have a "mouth" but they eat like any of us and you "homo sapiens" eat! they eat plants, other grazers, they're animals like yours really!
most of these are small or medium sized critters, some are quite big, some are even as big as us, or even taller! but none will ever surpass a gargantuan class grazer. one of them, is unsurprisingly, called the white void gargantuan grazer.
the white void gargantuan grazer, is as the name imply, a gigantic grazer, with elongated hair similar to the elder, though it branches out from the ponderers!
from many studies and observation, gargantuans seem to feed from large trees and greenery found in cliffs. though some have been noticed to chew on their large manes, which may be implying that the gargantuans seem to also feed on plants, animals, and parasites that live on its long mane, similar to a farm!
due to its gigantic size, civilizations in the past always used it as a threatening display of power, or even as a giant walking village or transport system! and unlike many grazers, they live an extremely long life! some gargantuans are even found still holding onto old ruins!
despite their gigantic size and their horrifying appearance, gargantuans are gentle giants! there was never a documented moment where a gargantuan was hostile. this may be because due to its thick skin and slow movement, attacking may cost too much energy, and so it spends most of its life grazing and interacting with other gargantuans.
cave creatures
due to the bright nature of the white void, cave interiors are always cast in absolute darkness, and often times, without any kind of artificial light, it can almost feel like you never have eyes! because of this, and the caves often messy and maze like shape, many grazers that live in caves tend to take an... interesting form.
similar to land grazers, the cave dwellers too, have their own gargantuan class grazer, a grand blood grazer
these grazers can be quite the trouble! due to its huge diet, if left unchecked, grand blood grazers can take up an entire cave system with its body alone. rumors claim that there is a gigantic one that takes up an entire forest area, so large it has its own ecosystem! despite this, research has proven that despite being able to grow in such huge sizes, grand blood grazers cannot be that big.
of course not all cave dwelling grazers look like this, many look similarly to the surface dwelling ones, its just that due to the harsh nature of the caves here, many must adapt in strange ways.
because of the terrifying nature of some of these cave grazers, many have been depicted in past cultures as nightmarish entities and fowl beasts to slay, similar to the idea of a "dragon" or "kraken" in your earth culture. the only difference of course, is that they're very much real! similar to how your "kraken" is actually just a "colossal squid", whatever a squid is.
speaking of! you might be asking, where are the water grazers? oh, they do exist! they're just a bigger can of worms that might need their own segment. though, from what i've seen and heard of your world, they seem to be alike! well, outside of them not being based of white void grazers.
thank you for reading!
i hope you enjoyed this fun and educational advertisement for the fauna of the great white void! we hope you can visit us someday, somehow. we have so many things to show you, and so many history from us voidians!
if you have any questions you want to ask, feel free to ask them in the replies of this "tumblr" thing you have, and i'll try my best to answer your questions.
