People universally seem to parse it as Mean but sometimes what you really, really need to hear is "this is not a socially appropriate thing to say, and you should not have said it"
i keep seeing this cut off but the preceding âyessireeâ is vital to it imo
i had to transcribe it
(Getting swindled by a genie) itâs like talking to a fucking tumblr user with you
the genie: how dare you say I'm fucking a tumblr user
"Try our new AI tool", "Use ChatGPT", "Our AI assistant can help"
STUNNING Jade piece thatâs left half raw, half hand sculpted into a treasure chest
In France if you suffer from hair loss as a teenage girl and cannot afford a real hair wig the school will try and force you to go to class bald. The school will make you buy a chemotherapy turban, you will buy two different so that the school can choose which one they prefer and you will prove that they are chemotherapy turban and not hijab but once you wear it they will change their mind and say it looks too much like a hijab and insist on you going bald or buying a real hair wig that you cannot afford.
If your doctor makes multiple documents confirming that you suffer from alopecia because of stress and the medicine you have to take for your epilepsy and that wearing a bonnet or something is recommended for your mental health as youâre not ready to go out bald in high school as a teenage girl, instead of admitting they are wrong the school will accuse the doctor of lying and report him to the Ordre des MĂ©decins (equivalent of the General Medical council). Your doctor will find himself asking you for a document stating that you are not Muslim in order to defend himself and prove that no he wasnât colluding with you so you could wear a substitute for hijab.

In France if you are a North African nurse at a public hospital and wear a fabric surgical cap they will try to make you remove it because apparently itâs a hidden hijab. They will accuse you of going against secularism and when youâll argue that they are discriminating you by assuming youâre Muslim for a surgical cap on your head they will change their angle and claim that you should wear nothing on your hair because you wear the same surgical cap in multiple bedroom which is unhygienic apparently (which is a bullshit argument cause you wear the same scrub/uniform in different bedrooms as well). They will go as far as claiming that disposable scrub caps (you know the thin papery ones?) are not okay to wear in a hospital even if you change it regularly. And then they will fire you for a lack of hygiene because you wear a surgical cap.

All of that will be done in the name of secularism and womenâs right despite having nothing do with either quite the opposite.
The teenage girlâs story is also not just about racism and Islamophobia itâs also about ableism as the girl is convinced that the real reason the school is trying to push her out is because she had an epilepsy crisis in class and nobody knew what to do and the school nurse was absent. It could have ended badly had her best friend not known what to do to help. Apparently it was bad enough to cancel class for the rest of the day and the teacher was shocked to the point of ending on sick leave.
oh and don't forget that many parts of France mandate by law how much skin women must show in swimsuits, which they claim is about not getting street dirt in public pools but which is disproportionately enforced on Muslim or even just Middle Eastern/North African women
(and of course is also some forced nudity misogynistic bullshit in general, to boot)
I didn't really care too much about the french government previously, but now I want every one of that scum dead almost as much as the american government.
What if I tell you that the guy people (internationally) were fawning about because he was the youngest and first openly gay prime minister we had in France is remembered for one thing that he is still very proud of. He passed a law making âabayaâ illegal at school. Except there is literally zero way to distinguish a âabayaâ from a summer dress or any long dress. So what happened is that Arab and Black girls ended up being profiled at school and school staff ended up deciding that if a Arab or Black girl says that this is not a âabayaâ one way to know for sure was to ask them what they were wearing underneathâŠ
So we have grown adults asking underage girls what they are wearing under their dress and if they wear shorts and not just underwear they have to remove the dress and stay in short or they get send back home⊠grown ass ADULTS checking what UNDERAGE Black and Arab girls wear under their dresses and making them undress or lose access to education. Thatâs where weâre at in FranceâŠ
(And you canât wear a headband either if youâre Black or Arab but thatâs an other subject.)
P.S: For the white French people who will be disingenuous and claim that these laws donât target Arab and Black girls they actually do because itâs only illegal to wear these stuff if youâre Muslim and because Islam is a racialized religion in the West, France assume that all Black and Arab folks in France are Muslim so white girls are not affected by these laws.

I feel like I am taking crazy pills
I'm making this post without a true answer, but I feel like there's been some shift--slight but noticeable--in advertising that's pushing things in a "well aren't you just useless đ„°" direction.
Backlash against 2010's hustle culture? Backlash against 2000's "girls can do anything" messaging? I don't know. But why are the AI advertisements all about how you forgot your wife's birthday or your boss's deadline and the AI saves you? Why is the ideal young-20s woman a frail little girl who lives on her boyfriend's income and makes him lattes while she does nothing all day? Even the sports-betting craze feels like it reskinned the "savvy young day-trader who's skilled at reading the market" to "blind and dumb luck might make you a millionaire so you should try."
And it feels like there's something here because like--yeah AI is being advertised as a functionality of convenience, but so have things like food delivery apps. And I swear my best recollection of food delivery app advertisements used to be like, "busy mom comes home from work and finds the kids messed up dinner--oh well, at least there's doordash!" Like the key target is not someone lazy or useless, they're just busy as hell and won't this convenience service we offer help them a bit?
The instagram girlies were running businesses in the 2010's--most of them scammy bullshit I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole--but the aesthetic of being busy, hustling, operating with drive and passion, was in. The men were founding start-up companies and calling themselves entrepreneurs--again, scammy, 10 foot pole, etc. But the aesthetic of doing something and being capable was in vogue.
I don't know. Something is weird. Forget your whole family's birthdays and let the AI email them a card, you idiot. Spend all day nursing your 5-calorie matcha latte and posting your athleisure outfit to instagram, you dumb girl. Make some dumbass bet on the Mets that'll net you $1,000,000 if you win but that won't happen because the odds are 1000:1 against you and this'll drain the last of your savings, you puppet. It's vogue, somehow. It's hot. It's in. Strive for nothing. Fuck you.
Absolutely bonkers that I'm now one of those weirdos you hear about on Twitter
I committed to the bit so hard that I also committed misdemeanor impersonation of a government official
