whether it’s john, june, or joen egbert, all interpretations of j egbert are valid. at the time of writing homestuck, andrew hussie fully intended for john egbert to be a cishet boy and nothing else. the thing is, people have the ability to headcanon other identities onto characters, which lead to transmasc, transfem, and nonbinary interpretations. it just happened to be that andrew eventually became interested in june, and that doesn’t invalidate other interpretations of the characters, because homestuck can be read outside the context of twitter dot com.
