i figured that was the case! im not trying to take you in bad faith at all, if that wasnt clear. i dont think it was your intention to call veldian/lesbian culture fake or anything. i just still thought it was worth sending an ask because if someone clicked on natiden, especially someone who hasnt seen it before, they might see the definition and be confused or feel invalidated.

i also worry that the original coiner is being, for lack of a better word, disrespected here? afaik, the original coiner hasnt said anything about opening natiden to real cultures. im not saying i know how they feel, either! maybe they would be fine opening up natiden to real-life cultures, idk. but, reiterating, nothing had been said yet, so i think it's best to follow the original definition yk? and even if its just to stop people from coining for closed cultures, it's still exclusively for fictional cultures.

i just know that, like, as a coiner myself, i would be kind of upset if people were misusing my terms, but again the coiner isnt me so maybe they dont

adding onto that, interden wasn't coined by the original coiner so i don't think it has any bearing on how natiden should be used. even then, cultures in headspace arent 1:1 with cultures from the real world (not to say that headspace cultures are not real ofc, just that theyre different).

i think it would honestly just be better to make a term separate from natiden for real cultures ^^;? (just as a general idea, im not saying you have to or should make it.)

yea no worries. they will stay up for archival reasons n stuff but I'll deem them obsolete and work on something new... eventually.

hey, im really sorry if this comes off as rude and i dont mean to attack you at all, but natiden is only for fictional cultures*. it feels a bit strange to make veldian/lesbian natidens only if because it feels like its calling those cultures fictional.

i think i would get it if it was about like fictional veldian/lesbian relationships or content, but with the way its worded it feels like its talking about real-life veldian/lesbian culture and calling it fictional. i just thought id let you know in case you wanted to reword them or something? i mean you dont have to of course but yeah

*for reference, it says in the coining post:

"An umbrella term for identities only fully understood in context of a certain fictional culture(s), society(s), etc; generally, either it can only be understood by those who were raised in, from, or otherwise connected to said fictional culture/etc., or the identity just can't be explained through meanings detached from the cultural context, having a specific meaning tied to that culture"

and

"Can be connected to a specific region, dimension, planet, or otherwise. Only for fictional cultures / societies / etc., not real ones"

i think the term definition has kinda changed over time honestly. especially since interden (link) exists and from the coining and generally knowledge/context of other stuff, it being fictional only is definitely to help it not be used as an excuse for cultural appropriation n alike.

i can see ur view, but i never thought of it that way nor made it in that light. My identity is connected to and feels very.. Lesbian/Veldian Culture but not nessasasily those terms (alone). if that helps.

but if needed, i can make the terms obsolete and recoin them with a new/original word probably as a sorta one.. or two off in this case. cuz the terms n definitions are important to me, but i also want others to feel comfortable and okay using them and not feeling like their identity is being called fictional.

Mogai Mischief Event

Foremost, I would like to thank you all very warmly for 2k followers. It’s been a wild ride! Expect a more in depth and heartfelt post about that in the coming days. For now I’d like to introduce to you an event to celebrate this milestone: the mogai mischief event!

Participants will secretly pick another member of the mogai community and from Monday 29th of June to Friday the 4th of July, coin based on five prompts about their chosen person. At the end of the event, the secret person will be revealed!

If you’ve ever participated in or seen the blorbosquared event, it’s the exact same principle but with other people in the community rather than characters.

RULES & INFO

- Since my blog is focussed on mogai coining, the event will centre around coining based on the prompts, this does not have to include a flag however

- You can really choose anyone for the prompts (a friend, mutual, stranger, coiner, archivist etc) but as this is mogai community focussed it will be easiest to create for someone in the community who makes or uses mogai terms. There will be alternate prompts sometimes in case certain prompts are harder to fulfil but also feel free to take lots of creative liberty

- Please keep your person a secret until the final day! That’s part of the fun :-)

- Feel free to plan out and draft terms beforehand or post late/after the event, but please don’t post your event coins until their respective day

- Tag your posts with #mogaimischief !
