FALSE. …in theory.

According to the minecraft wiki, it takes 4 minutes and 10 seconds to break a block of obsidian with no pickaxe while standing on a block underwater. Presumably the same rules apply for under lava. Doc has a fire resistance potion lasting 8 minutes - not long enough to break two obsidian blocks, but enough to break one, which will be enough.

Since he has ender pearls, if Doc breaks one of the obsidian blocks in the roof, then the dirt block above it, he can just teleport out before the fire resistance potion runs out.

Of course, this all relies on A. him actually drinking the fire resistance potion in time to live, and B. actually thinking of this.

Now excuse me while I open up Minecraft to test this out, lol.

success! my index finger hurts but I was right! I had about 2 minutes 40 seconds left on the fire resistance potion despite me accidentally letting go of the button partway through and having to start from scratch.

I was wearing un-enchanted iron armour because I didn’t remember what enchants Doc had except for mending on the chestplate, so if Doc has fire protection on any of his armour he’ll take damage a little slower than me - I also made an effort to be leisurely while getting the potion out of my inventory and drinking it, because someone who is panicking won’t be thinking very clearly, and still made it.

Conclusion: this plan could totally work.

@justhitpley replied to this reminding me that Doc also has scaffolding blocks, and I didn’t think of that but that would also work!

So basically Doc Is Not Doomed you don’t need to freak out, LOL.
