This is a set of pencil sketches where I attempted to visualize the facial likeness of Reiko Hinomoto from the old videogame The Rumble Roses. At the time I read an art commission request in DeviantArt job offers forum and I was curious to try it (I didn't propose myself because I know they wouldn't hire me because my style doesn't match the visual trends of the genre). There is not much valuable visual material of Reiko on the Web. To base the interpretation on renders of the original 3D model is nearly impossible, and the Rumble Roses XX version, seems to be inconsistent with the original one. I saw some illustrations from various artists, though they all treat the portrait as a manga/anime interpretation, and original concept art (if any) is not available to the public. So I was trying to figure out what kind of Asian/Japanese type the original Reiko 3D model was trying to depict with the limited rendering capabilities of the time.

This is a friar intent on stalking Hazel wherever she goes and trying to thwart her, though without much success. Unconvinced, he often entertains the villagers with apocalyptic sermons on the streets of the town he passes through. The sermons naturally implicate Hazel and her witchcraft as the primary cause of divine wrath and humanity's downfall.
